  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Amber LED DRL vs. White LED DRL

I made with LED headlights on my 2015
here

so you took 2018 sport lights and put them in a 2015, made a special wiring harness to make them work?

but activated the Ambers for DRL, instead of the White?

what did you do with/for the white LEDs then

Yes, I installed the headlights from G80 Sport.
My DRLs are amber and parking lights are white.

The 2015 with HID high/low headlights uses the amber turn signal bulb for DRLs inboard of the headlights with white LED surrounds as parking lights. IIRC, the 2015 with halogen headlights uses the high beam bulb inboard of the headlights at low intensity for the DRLs and amber LED surrounds as turn signals and parking lights. I suspect that what you saw was a 2015 with halogen headlights driving with the parking lights on. This would light the amber LED surrounds at lower intensity than the turn signals.

Still curious about amber DRLs. I came across another one in the midwest (St. Louis). Sorry for the lame image. While hard to see, the DRLs are amber. Some day I hope I am able to get to a meet up where someone has a Genesis with ambers. I want to talk with about the look and learn more ... if it was a modification or stock, model year, and etc. I need to search for a midwest meet up and get it on the calendar (post pandemic of course).

The 2015 had amber DRL. They were also prone to early burn out. Mine lasted about 18 months. There are a couple of threads here about changing them to LED.

Canadian 2015 Genesis 3.5 Tech....
DRL are white LED
Turn signal is a yellow bulb...closest to midline of car. Turn signal activated- yellow bulb flashes and DRL LED on that side goes out
Headlights are projectors HID on the outside of Lens

My recollection is that 2015 models had amber AND white DRLs, depending on the models, base vs. upgrade levels. Is that basic statement true?

White when driving, amber when the 4 way flashers are on. Amber for turn signal, then back to white.
Are the amber drl only on the '18 ultimate package or can they be found on the base models as well??

my friend owns a 2016 and his daytime runners are always amber.
I have a 2016 Genesis 3.8 premium sedan and my Turing lights and dlr's are amber led's
