  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is anyone else disappointed that the 3.5T sport prestige doesn’t have ambient lighting in the arms rests? It’s not as spectacular as geometric and waveform patterns in the lower trims. I’m boggled as to why they went easy on the highest trim. The rear seats hardly get any ambient lighting.

It's because the carbon fiber trim of that model isn't porous. I assume it would be too fragile if it wasn't one bonded piece so they sacrificed lighting for the appeal of carbon fiber.

I agree but I like the carbon fiber trim so I will live with it.

That’s true, but they could’ve piped it in elsewhere. A bit of luxury got traded for the carbon fiber. But I love the car too much and will live with it

I'm surprised they didn't outline the carbon with the trim lighting. This would keep the carbon and still keep some light into the cabin like the lower trims.

To me this is the only acceptable workaround. I personally like it how it is, I don't want a glow fest in a nice luxury car. To me I'm glad the armrests don't light up, I think it has the perfect amount of lighting inside.

can someone share some pics so we can see what the difference in lighting truly is between the top level trim & the lower end trims? some pics in the dark/night time would be much appreciated from both levels!

I don’t have pictures of the rear seats or the armrests. I’ll get them next time I’m in the car.

Initially, I thought more lights would have been cool in the Sport Prestige. However, I have to agree that too much lighting would not be good.
For one thing, the light on the left side of the dash already reflects on the driver's side window at night and is kind of distracting when looking at the side mirror. It's a minor thing and it's something you get used to. However, more ambient lighting at night would result in reflections everywhere. That could be very distracting.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It would also be nice to have the Homelink buttons illuminated, as they are hard to distinguish at night.

Here are a couple of pics I found w/ Google. The last one shows the person holding trim from the Sport Prestige trim - carbon fiber with no lighting at all.

Love all the ideas and feedback here. i just wish the Sport plus (Sport Prestige in the US) has the 64 colors the lower trims get!! :(

I don't understand why Genesis thinks the higher trim needed a "select choice of colors" to go with the car nonsense. call me crazy but I want the green and amber colors lol.

hopefully they unlock it through a software update and give people the choice.

Really? I didn’t know the other trims had 64 colors. I’m honestly the biggest fan of carbon fiber as a trim choice. Sure it’s niche and expensive, but I’d like the option to keep brushed metal and illumination over it.

Yup, the "Sport" trims don't get all the ambient colors at least here in Canada as well as a few other markets. the GV70 order guide in the Australian as well some middle eastern markets explicitly say "select 11 colors chosen by the design team to...etc" here is the link to the Korean website - download the GV70 brochure and its in the options section in fine print.
