  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just wanted to post up a little CAD shot of our new BOV block off plate that should be available very soon. This will enable you to remove the weak factory BOV on the turbine housing and block it off. Doing so will allow you to run a more traditional Blow off valve and get rid of the problem with the factory unit staying open in the event the ECU deems the boost is too high.

Pricing is TBD

Hi. Can you explain in laymans terms what this actually does?

will is harm or maybe freak out the ECU if you take the factory BOV?

This will not harm the factory ECU at all.

In our upgrade path thread, we talk a bit about the factory BOV and when it may start having issues and why it would be deleted and replaced with an aftermarket one.

yeah i read about that but since it is ECU controlled what are you going to be doing about that? since more then likely it will throw a code

We are exploring this issue. It does not harm the computer in any way. We may find that you catch a CEL from boosting too much but it may not affect the running or performance of the vehicle. This would be similar to a car running without a cat and having a catalyst efficiency code showing. The car drive just fine but it is letting you know that something is outside factory parameters. Eventually, once the ECU is cracked, we should be able to eliminate overboost and associated CELs all together.

if you get an aftermarket bov (meaning 100% atmosphere), your car will run rich right after you shift... computer tries to adjust but cannot overcome it 100%
