  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

And so it begins...

I bought a Genesis 4.6 in part because it was NOT a BMW,Mercedes,Lexus and all that is associated with having a turned up nose. I'm proud its a Hyundai!!!!!!.

"Some make cars for people that have more. Hyundai makes cars for people that DERSERVE more. " about says it all

You will see this a lot, welcome to the club!

A lot of people think I am a young guy in a Bentley most of the time like I am a celebrity. It never gets old though :D
I know others have received the "Bentley" comment, but I have not owned mine long enough to have that happen...until today. I'm walking my 11 year old into his classroom this morning and he says, "Mrs. Styles (the school nurse) told me the other day that she liked your Bentley." I asked him what he told told her. He said he told her, "It's not a Bentley, it's a Hyundai Genesis." Such a good honest boy.

It seems this car eludes the same response all around the country.

I've gotten everything from the "Bentley" comment to "I know it's a Hyundai, I just haven't seen one up close. It's beautiful".

Seem to get them on an almost daily basis. ;)

I got the Bentley comment from a woman that works in my building. She turned bright red when I told her it was a Hyundai Genesis. She didn't believe me until I showed her the H logo on the rear window and then opened my wallet to show no cash!! Funny thing is that I am in Miami, where you see Bentleys every day.

Best one for me was "Wow, that's beautiful. Is that an Aston?" from a neighbor.

I've had some people call it a Chrysler (yuck) that's when it ruins the moment lol.

I pulled my black Rspec into a parking spot at work and a late model black bmw 550 pulled in beside me. As I was walking away, I looked back and saw him rubbernecking at the Genny. He had that look of, "what the heck is that?"

Here is a good one, about a week ago my wife and I went to test drive a Genesis Coupe 3.8. Well no dealerships had a 3.8 in stock, so on our way home we stop by the Benz dealer just to check the 2drs out. The salesman walked out and stated "that sure is a nice S-class you are driving". What S-class? Sir that is a 09 Hyundai Genesis 3.8, all he could do was smile, while we laughed

That's the power of logo's and emblems. Mercedes, BMW, Chevy, and Chrysler all have emblems that catch everyone's eyes first so they can quickly identify the products. This forum was the first time I ever read about rebadging a car and as soon as I saw the wings I couldn't understand why people would put Chrysler wings on their Genesis. Now after seeing it more and seeing it's a little different I know it's not a duplicate of Chrysler, but close.

ya i think its lame they couldnt put a badge on the front. alot of people rebadge them with those wing emblems,i think thats how there sold in other parts of the world. i kinda think that lame because there hinding the fact its a hyundai even more. iv been thrown around the idea of putting a H logo on the front so people know its a hyundai and premium owners know im not ashamed

I was driving my Rspec when I noticed a couple behind me trying to read the logo at a stop light, but since I have the Gennie wings on the rear and on wheels and the GENESIS name removed from the lower right trunk lid, all they could read was Rspec 5.0. They drove next to me and then pulled up front, but without an emblem upfront they just drove away smiling with a thumbs up sign, but seemingly confused about what it was.

Happened to me on Monday while picking up lunch. Saw a man who had come in go out to leave in his black Mercedes. His car was on my right. He walked out to the left of my car to look around it. I smiled when I saw him (smugness???) and he said "that is one fine looking car." I thanked him and told him I have had the car for 3 weeks (shiny black exterior with cashmere interior). He said "oh, that is why it looks so good." I commented back "actually it will look this good in three years!"

I always detailed my own car (very picky in this regard) from the time I was 16 and hand waxed my car (29 years now - you do the math :0)

Hyundai's Genesis winged badges are distinct; well, as distinct as Bentley's, Aston's, Chrysler's, etc. winged badges are from each other.
