  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

And you thought the Genesis had no cooled passenger seat

Checkout the new 2013 Genesis Dynamic Edition. It has a cooled passenger seat. Check it at 1:59.

This car is also a V6 with Rspec wheels...WHAT?

See how many options your Genesis does not have compared to this model.

Can you name the options shown?

C'mon Hyundai. We want those options too! This is BS!

I saw the sport suspension mode..
I saw the cooled pass seat
I saw a rear seat controls
I saw a pop out cup holder in the front and the back
I saw a winged steering wheel
I saw a winged front hood an rear trunk
I saw an adjustable rear view camera

Did you also note the aluminum sport pedals? ;) I didn't see if the passenger seat controls were identical to the drivers but one can assume it probably is.

If the '14 Genesis is going retain the current body style but comes with these options then I'm all in! I'm not too turned on with the new style of the new 2nd gen which the talk is that it's going to be a MY 2015.

Hello 2014 Rspec! :D

I also saw a baggy driver seat with stretched leather.

wow and I coming from owning Japanese cars I knew that the Japanese had really cool stuff that never made it here to the US, after seeing this there is a lot of really cool stuff that the KDM get to have and we don't.

Why is that?? Our Market, Owners, Dealers (technicians) I have always wondered as to why?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
In addition to those things above, I spy a winged LCD boot-up screen and KDM-specific headlights (ala Equus, with LCD's).

I also spy an "Eco" button and a wood dash panel (instead of leather - most of us aren't used to those in the US).

And finally, I spy a heated steering wheel and a rear-seat outlet.

What I DON'T spy are the optional front camera and rear LCD entertainment system display, nor the wing-embroidered front seats.

Also the LED Mood Lighting (although this can purchased on ebay).

I went to a Kia dealership to view the Cadenza, and that also has only a cooled driver seat. Yet the Azera has cooled on both sides, I guess that's a way to cut back on some money to keep the vehicle priced better.

I don't know about current pricing, but in 2009 the KDM Genesis versions were about $17K more than US versions.

The 3.3L (BH330) ranges from $32k to $47k in Korea. The 3.8L V6 (BH380) ranges from $46k to $56k. Comparing the 3.8L to the US version, which retails from $35k to $44k, you can see that the KDM models retail anywhere from $9k to $12k above the HMA prices.

They definitely don't offer the 4.6L nor the 5.0L EXCEPT for the Prada Edition (5.0). That bad boy retails from $62k to a cool $68k. These are all USD figures. And they don't include add-ons (such as full LED headlamps or LED turn signals and things like that, which by the way are available on most configurations - there are no additional options on the Prada model, though).

Seems to me like the KDM cars are tiered up in prices over there; for instance, the 3.8L costs what the R Spec costs here, the Prada/5.0 is in U.S. Equus range in price, etc etc.

Back in 2009 (and documented somewhere in this forum) there was an newspaper article about the fact that (in 2009) the equivalent Genesis sold for about $17K more in Korea than in the US. Some people were buying a Genesis in the US and importing the Genesis back into Korea, and saving a lot of money even with import duties.

The Korean car market is very loyal to local car companies, which means that Hyundai and Kia are the main options. At the same time, the Genesis was considered to be a luxury car in Korea (only entry-level luxury in the US).

Interestingly, the opposite is true of the German automakers. One can purchase a MB or BMW without some of the luxury features that are standard equipment on all their cars sold in the US. About 15 years ago, I rented a MB car in Germany without power windows.

However, like in Korea, the German automakers sell their domestic cars with smaller engines as standard than are offered in the US, presumably because of the much higher cost of gas (which is very heavily taxed in the EU).

For example, the BMW 5 Series is available with the following engines (not even counting diesel options) in Germany:
  • 520i - 2.0L 4 cyl engine
  • 528i - 2.8L 6 cyl engine
  • 530i - 3.0L 6 cyl engine
  • 535i - 3.5L 6 cyl engine
  • 550i - 5.0L 8 cyl engine
In the US, the only options are:
  • 535i - 3.5L 6 cyl engine
  • 550i - 5.0L 8 cyl engine

I don't know about Germany, but in the US, the 535i has a turbocharged 3.0L I6 and the 550i has a twin-turbo 4.4L V8.

Probably the same in Germany. My mistake.

Yeah, the KDM Gennies cost a great deal more than the US model. Hence they should get some additional toys for the cost. But yeah...bring that crap over here too:mad:

German cars can get smaller engines in Europe because not only is gas more expensive, but I also believe one of the variables in car taxes there is engine displacement size. I know that is the case in Japan too.

I think Hyundai would say they already have brought it here. It is called the Equus.

That's one way to look at it that the Equus has "all" the toys...but I for one don't really want an Equus. It's bigger than I need, and IMHO simply not as good looking as the Genesis. Hyundai tried too hard with the Equus styling, it's too lumpy and bulbous:o

The Genesis is really a work of art in the looks department. I would choose a G over any other car, even if prices were equal, including a fancy $100k MBZ
