  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Android Auto and Apple Carplay finally available for Canadian models.

So its promising that the US might get this too. Would be nice.

I did the free installation yesterday for both my 2015 Genesis and 2016 Tucson. Both went smoothly. Thanks to Hyundai, but it's a shame that the dealers don't bother advising us. I emailed my salesman telling him about this. No reply yet. Thank goodness for sites like this.

Wait this is for the ultimate models with the jog dial right?

Sadllyyyyy no. Sounds like it's for non-ultimates only. I'm sure our cars are capable of the app, but it sounds like Hyundai may not see the rationale in redesigning our HU software to incorporate it. At least per this thread.

I think you’re reading a little too much into Genesis’s lack of motivation for not incorporating CarPlay and android auto. I don’t know where you saw your conclusion in the current thread but I think it’s generally agreed that the 12 inch screen hardware simply won’t support it. It’s a hardware issue not a software one. I think they were smart enough not to promise what they knew they couldn’t deliver for the Ultimate.

Sorry! Was cross referencing another thread and mixed them in my head. Essentially the other thread had posters questioning hardware limitations vs financial motivation. I find it hard to believe the ultimate with more tech goodies would be incompatible from a hardware standpoint. Just seems a bit farfetched. Also I believe it is a 9.2in screen.

I don't follow the logic. The hardware is different, yet you think it has to be compatible with the lower end software? Sure, it has more tech goodies, but some are different and would need different code to operate.

The peripheral hardware is different (in that more is included on the ultimate), but how different is the internal hardware for computing, memory, graphics, etc? I have doubts that the internal hardware would be inferior to the lower end tech HUs such that it could not accommodate the software. That being said I have never pulled out the HUs on a Genesis, but perhaps I should.

(And you could totally be right, there might be some huge difference in internal hardware and the Ultimate guys got a bit unlucky, but I think these are questions worth posing)
