  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picked up my GV60 Premium (RWD) a couple of days ago after ordering on April Fools' Day: originally told it would be November before the car was ready. The GV60 is replacing a leased Volvo XC40 P8 and I have already noticed a few significant differences:
  • Ride on the 19" wheels is so much more comfortable than the Volvo (although I am probably unique in thinking about investigating whether 18" or even 17" wheels with higher profile tyres would fit over the brake caliper!)
  • Electronics are much better than Volvo's Google OS.
  • Acceleration is down with the single motor but my boy racer days are long gone so not an issue.
  • 2 gripes that I may well be posting about in due course (in the proper section of the forum, of course) are ipedal not being the default and having to be selected every time, and inability to fine-tune AC charging rate. (I have solar panels on the house which output 2-3 kW and the Volvo allowed me to charge at 8 amps from my wallbox, effectively for free on a bright day.) I know I could use the portable charger but that would mean setting it up every time.
Glad to find there is a Genesis forum which looks very welcoming, so I expect to be checking in regularly.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Genesis GV60! I'm glad you found us. Thank you for the comparison with the Volvo XC40. I'm curious about the 17" or 18" wheels as well. Please let us know how that works out if you try...

Sal,
This is probably a bit cheeky coming from a brand-new member like me, but I would like to suggest a separate sub-forum for GV60 RWD. The GV60 is still very new here in the UK but almost all our "local" reviews of the car conclude that the Premium (RWD) is the model to go for. A few sample reviews:
Genesis GV60 review 2023 | Auto Express
Genesis GV60 Review 2023
My early wanders around the current GV60 forum suggest, understandably, that the majority of your members are in the US and Canada. I also believe that AWD is standard over there, and there are significant differences between the 2 drive types which often make threads not relevant. I expect RWD ownership to far outstrip AWD in Britain, and quite possibly in other European countries. I haven't yet found a UK-specific Genesis forum although there is a Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/689239672413863/
Thanks in advance for your time.

Jim

Hmm... I don't believe we have an rear wheel drive version here in the USA... Might I suggest starting a topic in the GV60 forum where all RWD owners can discuss that particular version - and start there? Once things pick up with that discussion, I can split the topic into individual discussions and create a GV60 RWD forum. Let me know what you think. Thank you!
