  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Truth About Cars did a follow-up look of the Genesis R-Spec; you can find it here.

Summary quote:

Saying that the Genesis 5.0 is better than the gaggle of luxury people-schlepers is something I just can’t say, but in many areas it is quite possibly just as good and yet I find myself saying a rare thing as I handed the Genesis back: this is a car I would buy myself.

Some of the disparaging comments are legitimate, some of them seem like sour grapes. The Genesis is a great car for the money, no matter how you slice it. I'd be seriously worried about the next revision if I were one of the premium luxury brands, with one major caveat: I'm very worried about the styling on the next Genesis. I know a lot of people like the new Azera, but subjectively speaking, I'm not one of them. And the fact that they lost the guy who designed the Genesis (which I think is beautiful) concerns me. If they plan on taking the Genesis down the Azera route, then.. *sigh*.

I'm one of those potential Genesis fans who's standing on the sidelines waiting for my chance to jump in. I look, listen and study this vehicle and cannot believe the value that is in the car. I tell people all the time... the number one reason people buy is because it appeals to them visually. And I'll be damned that that car has me hook, line and sinker.

I don't really care what most critics say. If you see something you like, you owe it to yourself to go check it out and form your own opinion. Anyone who takes the time to get in a Genesis and actually drive it off the lot is going to fall in love with it. Think about it, i don't know about anyone else, but the best movies i've ever seen rarely are known by anyone else. Then when i show them, they're like wow, how could i not have known.

As far as reviewers are concerned, I think that most of them are still harboring memories of Hyundai's from the Excel years and haven't really given the Genesis, or it's siblings a fair chance at the playing field.....until now.

Lexus fell to the reviewers axe when it arrived and the reviews were almost parallel to the Genesis. Here is one example.

I fell in love with the Genny when it first came out but was in a fairly new Sonata so I didn't make the switch until this past August and have never looked back.

Sure it has some shortcomings and a few minor gremlins from time to time that irk me but isn't that what a warranty is for? No car brand is PERFECT. Imagine what the Genesis will be like ten years from now.

Lets face it. You can't beat the Genesis's price point for a vehicle of this caliber. And the warranty? Well that's another reason to buy this car.

After owning several SUV's and grocery getting sedans, it's a breath of fresh air to get into a V8 sport lux sedan. I feel like I'm twenty again ripping up the highway and cruising the Renton loop (Washington State). :D The Genesis made me enjoy driving again whereas I rarely went out because I hated the driving experience of my former vehicles.

b00dah, just drive it! :D

Sure, it doesn't look bad. It is, though, a blend of design cues that come from many different brands and design languages. The rear lights are almost the same as the Golf's front lights and the front bumper and grill area reminds me of Volvo's latest designs.
