  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

antenna attachment question?

looks like it may be the same situation. you can always return it to amazon if you are not happy. Mine is hanging on just fine been through the car wash several times. good luck

My cover got knocked off in the car wash and could not be located. I don't mind taking the time to grind off the screw part and silicone it on to the car. Based on my VIN, this is the actual part for my car. Do you think the fin cover you found on Amazon would fit on a 2017 G80?

Looks the same defiantly worth a try. Mine is hanging on very solid. been through the car wash several times
You won't need to pull down the headliner to do it my way. I discovered the screw pattern was wrong after i pull down my headliner and removed the antenna
good luck

Anyone know where to buy JUST the plastic shark fin cover? I knocked mine off with the self serve car wash brush and the dealer told me I had to replace everything, including the antenna, just to get a new plastic fin! WTH?! $200 w/o installation. Right now it's glued on....

Not sure.. nice thing about getting it from Amazon you can return it if it doesn't match. Mine is still perfect.

Confused, it fit but the electronics did not. How did you solve this ?

As a follow up, I just went out and looked at the antenna closely and realized its actually very easy to remove.
If you pull down about 12" to either side of the headliner, right up against the back window, there is a single round plastic snap on each side that pops right out.
That gives you enough room to look underneath the headliner where you will see two cables plugged into the antenna, a smaller one for the XM and a larger one for the GPS. Those cables are push-in, so all you have to do is very carefully pull them straight out. After that, there is a single nut, about 16mm that holds the antenna in place. Mine was so loose, I could turn it with my fingers.(that’s from a thread I read to do mine)
I’m guessing this is NOT what the connection to the shark fin antenna looks like..
