  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any chance of a Genesis version of the Stinger?

I'm interested in the G70, but the Stinger seems the more practical option. More leg-room (and car-seat room) in the back-seat, and a super practical hatch. I'd love to see Genesis sell their own version of a Stinger, so that you never have to enter a Kia dealership. I'd call it the "G75" (5 'cause its half-way in between a G70 and G80, and 'cause it has 5 doors).

What are the odds Genesis will come out with something like the Stinger to compete directly with the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4-series Grand Coupe? Or is the G70 it?

If they ever do, it's a long ways out.

Slim to none, with emphasis on none.

Does it shame you to enter a Kia dealership?

... instead of a Hyundai dealership?

yes , kia is like the red headed step child and there line up is boring looks like Russian doll syndrome.

The G70/80 is it. That middle segment is only viable (if at all) once they have SUV's to flesh out the lineup.

Must be your hangup. Mark888 used to advise us just to put a paper bag over our heads when dealing with “lessers.”

Kia offers some amazing vehicles these days, including the Stinger, Telluride and Optima. No, they look nothing alike.

As opposed to Genesis dealership, which we have in Canada. Or I guess as opposed to any dealership, as we can just buy a Genesis on the Internet, and have the car valeted for maintenance.

for the ones that

im sorry if that came out wrong , by all means i personally dont have an issue with kia ''just not my cup of tea", but for us whom work in the industry we all know how it truly is and its just the simple truth if you can afford a hyundai you buy a kia thats how it has been and will always be. i wanted to agree with but you about them not looking alike but imo they all look the same idk if its the grill.

As I suspected. The hatch isn't a necessity, as our other car is a crossover, but I was hoping for something with a little more leg-room. Not a deal-breaker though.

It is certainly an addicting drivers’ car. Not to shabby on looks either.

Likely not going to happen as the fastback bodystyle is a niche one and Kia already has that covered w/ the Stinger.

Going to disagree w/ that assertion.

Putting aside the Germans who really exhibit the Russian doll syndrome, Kia is less so than mainstream makes like Mazda or even Hyundai (esp. when it come to its CUVs).

The front and rear of the Seltos, Soul, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride are quite different and significantly more so than the Venue, Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade.

Also, the tiger-nose grille comes in wide variety of shapes and sizes.

Of the 3 brands, it's Genesis that will exhibit the most Russian doll syndrome w/ its new design language.

Basically get the same headlight/taillight treatment and the same grille across the lineup.

W/ the Stinger and the K900 (which look completely different from each other), Kia tried to hit segments of the lux market that Genesis isn't targeting. Add the Cadenza and none of the 3 really look like each other.

If Kia is to go ahead w/ its own RWD lux CUV, chances are, it would be more of one of those sport CUVs or coupe CUVs (like the X4 or X6).

You make a good point. A lot of people have questioned why Kia builds luxury cars. The point to keep in mind is that Kia is a separate company that's majority-owned by Hyundai, whereas Genesis is merely a division of Hyundai. So Kia still has some autonomy, and they sell cars worldwide. Luxury Kias are pretty popular in Korea. Of course, Genesis is pretty popular there as well.

^ Make that a minority (around 33%) but a controlling stake in Kia.

The way Stinger sales are going, I doubt it will be around very long and see no reason for Hyundai to produce a vehicle which in turn will have very soft sales equal or worse then that of the Stinger.

I’ll be frank, I love my G80 Sport, but had I waited 6 more months I could have purchased a Stinger with equal options and features for $10K below what I got the G80 for. I drive by a Kia dealership every day and they are advertising the Stinger GT2 for $43K, last month Kia only managed to push out 1097 Stinger units -27% below July 2018 and -21% below June 2019.

Sales are a flop for any mid to large size sedans today because the manufacturers and media are pushing electric alternatives and cross overs to people, and people are buying into it hook, line, and sinker.

You make a very good point in that sedan sales are tanking across the industry. People are crazy for truck-shaped cars right now. I think the pendulum will swing back eventually.

In terms of sales numbers, I don’t put too much stock in sales snapshots like that. The car market is cyclical. Maybe 2018 was a good year. Sales are down across most manufacturers this year, so it’s hard to say. Plus maybe July is a slow month before the end-of-season sales in August. Plus sales of more specialized models like the Stinger tend to decline year after year.

none of those kia models look like luxury vehicles, they look rather bland with the stinger looks like a touch of charger in the rear, front "tiger nose " reminds me of a bad version of bmws nose. kia interior just doesnt cut it. cool cars though for price. the cadenza just has a dull look .
