  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any Ideas What This Is?

So, my V8 is in the shop, getting the fuel lines replaced with the 4500rpm issue. They were kind enough to loan me a loaner v8 for a few weeks while this major operation takes place. I noticed under the driver side, by the fuse box, this weird button:

I pressed it and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm thinking it's a tracking or theft system from the dealer. Any ideas?

Maybe its just me, but when I find a strange device hidden in a car with a button - I don't push it

Ha, I pressed it by accident when I was grabbing it. Nothing happened so I pressed it again.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :D

My guess is it is some kind of tracking because of a lease or a loan for the vehicle. I could be wrong. It does not look factory.

You could ask your dealer what it is.

THIS! :o

Looks tacked on, obviously. Pull the fuse panel - follow the wires - see where they go. I'm going to take a wild stab at auxiliary lighting... leds, halos, underside... something.

You need to push it when you floor the car, it's the NOS switch. :D

Likely a tracking device placed there by the leasing company/dealer. They are always looking to find vehicles when lessees fall behind on payments. This has been discussed here before.

I've seen the exact same thing on another forum. Turned out to be the remnants of an after-market alarm system.
