Any incidents of front bumper scrape at curb

I am coming from a SUV - so maybe its more of a mindset thing . When i park , i am worried that the front bumper might scrape the curb .
Specially the front left and right ends that are lower than the middle part.

When i wave my hand under the front bumper i can feel its got scratches , so it must have touched the hump in the past.



I checked in the parking lot , and it looks good .

This has happened to me. I also noticed when I bought my car used that it had some curb rash from the previous owner. One time it even pulled the lower bumper cover away from where it meets the front fender/headlight when I was backing out of the parking space. I was lucky enough to get it snapped back in place with a few strikes of my palm. Since that incident I am hypersensitive when parking up to a curb. For me it is just another data point I have stored in my memory for when it is time to consider my next vehicle. I would trade off the aesthetics of a slightly higher bumper for not having to be concerned with this.

Just be careful... I have to be extra careful since mine is lowered. I also have some curb rash from the previous owner but it's just on the underside - no crack or scrapes one the front.

Thanks , its good to know this is a issue i should be aware about . I saw posts about costs around getting the bumper's changed and imagine there is a lot of gadgets fitted in the bumper .

After i bought the Genesis ... and started getting it to office i realized the size of the vehicle. Its a really long car by all standards. I try and keep it a few inches behind the curb when parking . I see the car from a mile away , its the longest thing out there .

I don't really have any problems with curbs. The park assist system fairly accurately locates stuff that's only a few inches high. Stuff that could hit the bumper is within full scope.

Not really. I do that sometimes or I get out and look myself. Nothing to be ashamed of, I rather keep my car in one piece instead of many or paying hundreds of dollars in damages, just because I was too lazy to get my a$$ out of the car for ~15 sec.

Our 2015 3.8 Genesis sedan beeps and complains when you get too close to parking curbs. But we still scrape the bottom occasionally. Almost as low in the front as our 2006 BMW 330i sport.

My wife and I do it all the time. I’ve already scraped the bottom as well.

I always back in to avoid this. The rear bumper is a lot higher, and the top down view on the rear camera allows you to get very close. Given how long this car is, I don't like sticking out of my space for fear of being hit by someone backing out of a space on the other side.

I have, however, curbed my wheels more times than I can count. Many of the streets and parking spaces where I live are very narrow. Even if my passenger side wheels are only a couple of inches from the curb, my drivers side wheels will be right at the line. The side mirror shifts down in reverse, but it doesn't move in far enough to see the wheels.

I usually turn on the Multiview camera (if you have one) when parking. It lets me see if I'm centered in the space and also lets me stop before the curb and front stop.

Easy to do. Two steps to get it done.
Step 1 Trade in for a 2018 or newer G80
Step 2 Push "View: button on consul

In our area the curbs are high (and are cobble stone so different parts stick up higher than others), and so are the wheel stops in lots, and my wife seems to forget you can not pull in all the way, unfortunately I have touched up the front a few times, one of her times, she put a tear in the lower right edge, not sure how, but it looks like a knife cut into it, making it uneven where it was hit (even lower in that spot). You really need to be careful.
