If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any Original Genesis Owners Still around?

Bought my 2011 2.0T, brand new in 2010. It currently has 55K miles on it, and I am just now getting interested in making modifications to it.

Reached 99,999 miles today. Original owner since November 15, 2012.

thats the best year, trust me I owned a 2015 and 2013...2013 ride rough and 2015 sound system is horrid..

Still got my white 2009 4.6 V8 with 16000 only garage kept, immaculate. Florida car and Original owner only goes out 2 to 3 weeks to enjoy (my ride) and listen to my CD (Eagles). Still all stock no modification but with my age and retired thinking of selling it for a good price (over book value).

Where are you buying the transmission pan with built in filter if you mind sharing? I need one for a 2014 3.8 V6 with the 8 speed ZF automatic.

.....I got it from this website for European cars Car Parts - Free Shipping and Live Tech Support | FCP Euro and found ones that had the same ZF transmission as the Genesis 4.6 V8 and I also purchased new bolts...just order new bushings for my front lower & upper control arms, new links.....so once it all arrives I'll knock it out since I'm doing my trans, coolant, oil and brake fluid....

........you have to research which vehicle has the same ZF 8 speed transmission that uses the same pan and they will probably be cheaper than Hyundia parts IMHO....

Thank you, will check that out.

Can you share what prompted your TPMS light?
In 2016 I bought a set of used winter tires with aftermarket wheels from the member of this forum. And then right after that I bought my first set of summer tires from Costco - Micheline Pilot Sport 3.

Costco installed Micheline PS3 tires on OEM wheels and reset sensors with their device and it was all good, no warning light. I didn't want to buy OEM Hyundai sensors for the winter tires/wheels so TPMS light was always on in winter, but I didn't care because I didn't want to spend more than $400 American dollars on four original Hyundai sensors for the winter tires.

So I was driving on summer tires from mid April to mid November (no TPMS warning light after swap and reset by Costco device) and on winter tires from mid November to mid April (TPMS light is on). But then in April of 2019, after the swap to summer tires with OEM wheels and reset of sensors at Costco, I got light on after driving for a day. I came back to Costco. They had new device, they reset sensors, but light came back again after driving for a day. I went back to Costco again, they reset sensors again, but light came back on again after a day. So, I decided not to bother with this any more.

So, the cause of TPMS light staying on with winter tires is definitely the aftermarket sensors, and the cause of light staying on with summer tires mounted on original wheels with original sensors is (I guess) that batteries in those sensors are dead. It may be another reason, but I don't care, the light doesn't bother me. I have a good eye and can visually inspect the tires and manually check the tire pressure.

And remember those good old days when cars didn't have TMPS sensors? How could we drive back then without them? :)

And what a difference is to drive on summer tires in summer and to drive on winter tires in winter.

I hope I answered your question.

Great answer and exactly what I was looking for. My issue was that I had the RR wheel blinking and knew all of tires were set at the same pressure. Local shop put the machine tester to the sensors and said either I have 1 failed sensor or 3 failed sensors? I asked if they could replace all four and get the system back. They researched and stated they could so they did.

$390.00 later with all 4 new sensors they couldn't "talk" to the TPMS module so I have the same light. They gave me my $390.00 back so I went to Hyundai and they ordered 4 new sensors at $424.00...2 months later I called to inquire about them and they said Hyundai no longer makes them so they refunded my $424.00...glad I called.

Contacted Hyundai near work where I bought the car and they mentioned a $140.00 fee to test to see if they could reset. I will try and schedule that for the same time they perform the TSB 991. I have seen where they sell "pre-programmed" as well "programmable" sensor units for cheaper than OEM when they did carry them.

I will update as I make progress with this because I HATE THAT LIGHT ON!

Thank you.

You can always put as small piece of black electrical tape on top of that light. :)

Old thread, but just saw it.

Original owner of a 2013 Genesis 3.8 w/Tech (silver with black interior). Purchased for way below invoice in 2014 as a 2013 left over (8 miles on odometer).

Had some very early issues: rear shock needed replacement due to a crack and rattle in headliner resulting from a missed weld. Both fixed under warranty.

Subsequently had the transmission cable rust out around 60,000 miles. Replaced at dealership, but not a warranty item. Had a slow oil leak at the bottom of the motor which was replaced under warranty (around 80k miles). Had the plugs changed at the same service since a lot of the engine was already apart. Now at 92k miles. Just had both exhaust flex pipes replaced at a local mechanic last week (rusted out). Driving during New England winters has consequences. Replaced trans fluid at 75k miles. Synthetic oil changed every 5k.

Son used it for 4 years (3 at college, one after college). I have it back now. Runs great, smooth, quick (for a big car), comfortable. Overall, it's been relatively reliable.

We purchased our 2011 3.5 Genesis new in December, 2010, and still love it. We have about 2,000 miles short of 200,000 and love this car. Have had no major problems and would continue driving it if we could. It’s the best car we’ve ever had!

Purchased my 2013 Genesis in 2013. Currently 88,000 miles on it. I shipped it from Arizona to Hawaii. And seven years later, shipped it from Hawaii to Georgia. Great car.

Original Owner 2009 White Genesis 4.6 with all options and just around 16300 miles . Had all the update recall brakes, computer module etc. I keep it in the garage and just take it out once in a while for a joy ride and listen to my lexicon audio and watch my Eagles dvd in my garage. Best new car I ever bought.

I bought my 2013 Genesis RSPEC 5.0 in June 2014. Original owner, and proud. Have 34000km on her, and that is approximately 20,000 miles for my American friends.

Car runs fine, and only issue was a defective head unit within the first few months of purchase.

Happy with car, and its a long term keeper.

Just wondering who else is an original owner of the 1st GEN Genesis, and how is it going?

Weathertech mats up front

Otherwise all stock

Yes, bought our 2012 Genny 3.8 Premium/Tech package in June of 2011 ($40,000), still have it, 108,000 miles on it now. Right now there is problem with the back up camera, and the proximity sensors / adaptive cruise control. Otherwise it's a great car.

2012 3.8, original owner, 130k miles. No issues, Want to get the transmission drained and filled and the rear end gear oil replaced for the first time, next month. Very nervous about where to have it done, so they do the job correctly.

Since we got the telluride, the genesis now has to be parked outside.
