Has anybody heard any update or rumor about the fog light "situation" with regard to the US market V6 cars lately?

I *almost* broke down last week and did a 12 month lease assumption on a sweet Audi A7 but the deal fell through when the car didn't turn out to have all the options the owner originally told me it did.

I hope this is remedied in 2016 but interestingly I took a Hyundai listens survey involving fog lights a few weeks back and if I remember right one of the questions involved if I would be satisfied with fog lights that were integrated as part of the main lighting system....so perhaps Hyundai has something else planned - then again I don't remember if this applied strictly to the Genesis.

Been assumed and rumored it would change since initial rollout. Seems to universally be a major request and a miss in the US domestic market. Now if a few people complain of tire noise, that is a different thing

I'm just about ready to buy a 2015 Genesis and I'd be going for the V6 if it weren't for the fog lights. I'm really not sure I want to be bothered with messing around having them installed. I have NO issue at ALL with having the fog lights on all the time. I actually like the way that looks. I'm definitely not waiting for the 2016 model, however, so I'll either have to get the V8 or do the installation.

just do like the rest of us, get the lights off ebay and spend 100 to have them wired up, crude yes, but gets the job done

what's the definitive post on 3.8 aftermarket fog lights? It looks like quite a few will fit in the plugged opening in the bumper.

I briefly considered getting the V8 but then decided to pass on that as it doesn't have the heated steering wheel or rear heated seats and I am in Wisconsin....and of course its RWD although I wasn't opposed to running snows.

If I lived where you are I would have just purchased the V8 and I'd have my new car already. :)

Is there any cutting involved or do the eBay LEDs just hook up into place or something?

Yeah, I'd like to know if there's one specific set that our members are happy with...

I hear ya... I just don't think I have much need for the V8 so I'm paying $5000 extra for the LEDs more or less. Well... That and larger wheels (which I do NOT want because I prefer a softer ride) - and those nice quad tailpipes - which I could just buy and have attached if I really want to. I don't know. When all is said and done I'd probably leave the V6 alone with the exception of having the LED fog lights installed...

I got mine from RPMTrade on Ebay and they are Hyundai OEM - they slip right in tne same spot using the same hardware as the fillers you need to remove. You don't need to remove the bumper, but a few of the top nuts are really hard to reach - if you have big hands, it will be tough. I have small hands and it was still tough and there a few sharp edges where the bumper support is angle cut, so I got a few gashes as well - but worth it! After you get them in, don't forget that there are holes in the bumper where you can access an adjusting screw to center/aim each fog light too.

Thank you very much! It sounds like I can just have somebody install them who has the right tools and setup as opposed to me laying on the floor. It doesn't sound too labor-intensive.

I imagine it's easy enough to have them wired to the fuse box to be on all the time as long as the engine is running...

Found a simple way to wire after market (Hyundai OEM fog lights from RPMTrade on E-Bay) without the fantastic difficulty of wiring a switch through the firewall. Don't know if it's the way my car is optioned, but access to the firewall is almost impossible because of all the electronic boxes located adjacent to the power brake booster.
Found a simple solution today - a wireless remote switch (using a small key fob) for 12V operation is available that will switch the fogs on and off by operating the power relay remotely. It's available from "superbrightleds.com" for just $22.95 -- model # is RCA-RF2. Wired to a fuse outlet that shuts off when the ignition is OFF, it will operate the fogs exactly as the factory installation on the V8, plus it will allow the fogs to operate with or without the low beams being ON - which can't be done on the V8.
Trust me that getting wires through the firewall is extremely difficult and very time consuming, assuming you're even able to fish them through. I had just about given up until I found this simple solution. Makes for a very neat and compact wiring harness in the engine compartment. As an aside - the remote switch is designed for remote switching of automotive LED array.

That sounds awesomely BRILLIANT!

When you ordered the lights do they come with enough wiring to connect to the remote switch or did you order the lights with the wiring harness?

Brilliant thinking DFWGenny. I wonder too if this might be a good rewire method for V8 folks who want more control? The open market already has the lights available. Clever.. And the wireless solution is very cool.

Hate to throw cold water on the RCA-RF2 remote, but the tech sheet says 1.5 amp max. Intended for decorative LEDs, but fog lights at 5-10 amps? Am I missing something?

Just install a relay to take the load, this way the only power required from the remote is to operate the relays solenoid which is very little. ;)

I actually did this on the Gen 1 to bypass the nanny features using the remote and a relay as opposed to pulling the fuse and then replacing it. Worked no problem. This is what I used. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-DC-ON-O...100-/400544859147?hash=item5d4255840b&vxp=mtr

The foglights installation is simple. Is not that hard. Grab a metal hanger , tape the end of the hanger to your wire (switch )follow the hood release wire to get through the firewall. Pinch through until you see the hanger and wire tape together. Pull, run it through the back of the engine with the same hanger to get to the engine fuse box . connect your relay ect. Remove the front engine cover . Run your wire nice and neat , drop down to foglights

Well that was certainly informative! Thanks for the how to!

When I get some time off I'll write a step by step instruction with pictures. A few tips. You need a ATC mini fuse tap with a extra fuse to power your switch from one of the cabin fuse. You could tap for power either the headlight fuse or the cigarette power outlet fuse. Look into your genesis owners manual it will tell u which fuse is what . You want to go this route just in case you forget to turn off the switch, the light will turn off with ignition. Unused fuses are always hot . stay away from them. http://m.advanceautoparts.com/mt/sh...038-P?un_jtt_v_cookiecheck=on&un_jtt_redirect
