  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I ran some searches and haven't seen anything recently on this topic.

Given Verizon is scheduled to shut down its 3G network at the end of 2020, it sounds like our Blue Link will no longer work since I believe the radios rely on the 3G network (and not the newer LTE network). I don't know how feasible it would be for Hyundai to update the modems.

Has anyone with a 2015/16 Hyundai Genesis received any notification from Hyundai directly or via a dealer regarding the status of Blue Link after December 31, 2020 for our vehicles? My current subscription is scheduled to end in May 2021 since I prepaid for a year up front, so assuming they would offer a credit if the service is no longer available

Thanks!

Are you sure your car doesn’t use 4G?????

I recall prior to updating the maps to v14 there was a "3G" icon next to the cell reception icon; trying to locate a picture of it on my phone but now I just have the Blue Link icon next to the Cell icon.

I think 4G/LTE may have come in the 2016 models based on what I've read online; but would love to be proved wrong :)

Verizon isn’t shutting down CDMA until 2023 now. Won’t troubleshoot any devices past 1/1/2021.

I just received a Hyundai email stating Bluelink will no longer work on my 2015 3.8 Ultimate after March 2021. Says I have a 2g modem and the carrier is turning it off. Nothing they can do about it.

Has anyone figured out a mod or hack for this issue with the termination of 2G affecting bluelink remote start?

It's a 3g modem and you're SOL on any upgrade offered by Hyundai.
Several here including myself just went ahead and installed a remote start.
They work great

Understand you get an extra $100 or so off if you buy a new car.

I noticed on mine when they did the update last week my remote start stopped working… I called them today and they said it should work till end of year but they couldn’t get it working. All the app features are greyed out. It would be nice if we could get a fob that could access the remote start

I had a local shop do it and they used what product they sold... I started a thread about it.
