  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any way to get the modem to auto-retry connecting after starting in a dead zone?

Our house is in a cellular deadzone, so every trip that starts there causes the car to not connect to the network for connected services. I would have thought that it would try to reconnect every few minutes and work when we get back to main coverage, but it does not. Even on subsequent trips that start in a covered area, it won’t connect until I completely reset the entertainment system (holding down map+setup).

Since our house location is a problem one, this reset is needed every single trip. Does anyone know a better way? Can we make it auto-retry? Or how can I best make noise about this to Genesis?

No, for safety reasons it won't retry. Not sure why you have to re-set though. When mine would miss it just was like nothing ever happened and works later.

Instead of making noise to Genesis, go after Verizon as they provide the signal.

I think that you two are talking about two different things...

Ed, I think you are saying it doesn't auto retry to start the car when that fails. This is certainly true and the way it should be.

bagv70owner, I think that you are saying that once your car has lost the cellular connection by being in an area with no coverage for a while, that it does not reacquire (more accurate term than retry) the connection on its own when it is in an area with coverage. I think that having to reset it is not the way it should be. It should be able to reacquire automatically. Back when i had the factory 3G service, I never had to reset it to get it working again.
