  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone purchased Michelin Primacy MXM4 size 245/50-18 for their Genesis 4.6 sedan? If so how is ride and noise? I know this is a larger tire but when checking the revs per mile and diameter it is very very close in size to OE Dunlop.

I justed installed those - $170 at Discount Tire in that exact size. Nothing really spectacular aside the wet handling which is superior to the Dunlops. Oh, and they definitely look bigger on the standard 18" rims

How did you get such a low price? The V rated primacy MXM4 in my price research is over 210.00 per tire. Is the tire quiet as compared to the Dunlops? Thanks

I just looked up the tire on Discount tire and they had two listed at different prices. For $169.77 you get a H rated tire, for $268 you get a V rated tire.

If I understand correctly, both of these ratings are for sustained speeds of well over 100 mph. Unless you're driving at Daytona I would think either would suffice. .;)

That's correct. H rating is for 130 MPH, V for 149 MPH. I think that people tend to go for the higher rating to have "room to spare" (no pun intended). i've done that myself. But I wonder if it's a waste of money, much like buying higher octane fuel than your car's engine can benefit from.

Not only is it a waste of money, but in my understanding, the V rated tires sacrifice the ride quality significantly over it's H rated quality

The higher the speed rating the quicker they wear out

I bought a set of Primacy's in the stock 17" size with the H rating and had them installed before I ever drove the car off the lot. I'm definately not going to be driving on the street over 120 mph so the H rating is fine. The Primacy's are much quieter and handle better than the stock Dunlops. 60k warranty and $70 rebate from Tire Rack didn't hurt either.

Hyundai must get a heck of a price from Dunlop to put those POS's on the car as OEM.

I have the MXV4s on my Lexus LS430 and it is the quietest tire I have owned. Handling is not a strong point as these tires are categorized as Grand Touring All Season tires.

Exactly, for anyone interested in handling and performance and not just speed

I took delivery of my car with the Dunlop’s for two days about 250 miles before they changed them to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. These tires are every bit as good for handling, performance, ride, quietness and comfort and in addition they are A/S and rated highly in snow and wet roads.

For speeds above 186 mph (300 kph), consult your vehicle manufacturer and tire dealer.

I have the 17" for my car, about 5K on them and I love them. Very quiet and ironically my $70 rebate check just arrived yesterday in the mail from Discount Tire. $930 with tax, road hazard, etc. out the door.

Forgive my noob question, I am not too familiar with tires. I can't seem to find the MXV4 tires mentioned, plenty of MXM4 at tirerack and costco. Does the MXV4 refer to the MXM4 tire with the V speed rating?
