  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone else getting a hard brake pedal after a few days of not using the car?

I've read about this 'problem' a lot over the years, but it didn't happen to me... until now. Ha ha. From one day to the next it's not a problem. But by the 2nd day, it's hard. My wife alerted me of that, thinking something was wrong. Well, it is, and it isn't, as it's not worth doing anything about it IMO, since both of us are strong enough to push the pedal to start the engine. I read about many such cases over the Santa Fe forum, but sometimes I don't use my 2022 Calligraphy for weeks, and never a hard pedal, at least so far (only 1K miles on it, though). But the 2023 G70 gets it after only 2 days. Don't remember if we didn't use it for days before, but it has about 1,700 miles now. The problem has to be a seal IMO, allowing vacuum to escape over time. That's why I won't even bother taking the car to a dealer, since they're not going to know where the issue is. And since it doesn't affect drivability at all, not going to worry about that, unless it becomes much worse. Just curious if others have the same issue, and if car was taken to a dealer, and what they said. Thank you.

It has happened on both my former 2019 G70 as well as my 2022 G70. Not a big deal as far as I can tell.

I had it happen about a year ago, just sitting over night. My guess is a piece of dirt was that cause as after a week it went back to normal. Probably got dislodged and blew out..

Yeah, that's exactly my approach too. I'd prefer not to have that leak, but absolutely not worth doing anything about it IMO. By the way, I removed the brake fluid compartment cover yesterday to check everything, and nothing felt loose after trying to move/turn every hose around. Didn't use the car yesterday, and today, no hard brake pedal; go figure. Going on a 3-wk vacation Thursday (on the SF), so expect it to be rock hard next time I use it. Ha ha. The SF hasn't been used for 5 weeks, so curious if it'll have a hard pedal too, or not. I'll report on both when I come back :).
