  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've realized when clean and in certain light my bumpers/side skirts are noticeably different color from the rest of the car. I know they're painted separately and flex additive and blablabla.

Question is, if you've brought this to Hyundai's attention have they had it fixed for you? I've had metallic Acuras, Jeeps, BMWs, Audis, and VWs with never an issue that is this noticeable.

My short history with the brand is that virtually everyone needs to step their game up in the service department, especially if they want to legitimize themselves among the German big 3 and all. The first time I raised concern about my pano roof noise, their 'fix' was to turn the music up and keep the sun shade closed. No joke. So I hope they offer a fix, but who knows...would be anxious to hear your experience if any.

Here's a pic to illustrate, the bumpers/side skirts are a brighter white I guess, not to mention the panel gaps are varied as you can see here, and actually uneven in the rear (the bumper protrudes a bit from the rest of the body. In any event, final QC on the car should've caught this.

It is possible that the car was damaged in transit and needed to be repaired or repainted. Could have been damaged during a test drive also.

Right, and I would be curious about that too, if it weren't on every side (front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts).

I know the bumpers have plastic covers that get painted. Maybe the paint looks a little different on the bumpers than on sheet metal. I can't tell from your photos.

Maybe you should visit a dealer and inspect the paint on another white Genesis.

I think that's the only way to get it sorted out. Heading in Wednesday at 0730...sunroof rattle, front window seal rattle, paint, align headlights. I love the car, it's worth the work to get it (near) perfect IMO!

This is the case with nearly all pearl white cars I would think. As Mark stated, the issue is mainly due to the plastic vs metal surface the paint is on. Some cars it is much more pronounced than others and some colors make it more noticeable, pearl white is one of them.

No doubt and I understand that. But to my eyes, it's just never been this glaring in comparison to cars I've previously owned in white (2002 Audi no issue, 2006 TSX a bit of variance but not really visible, 2015 Jeep GC no issue, 2016 X1 no issue).

We'll see what they say Wednesday!

Exactly this.

Definitely agree, I just think it could be better from a car at this price point, especially given who they're swinging for in terms of competition.

I know I have seen a platic / metal "mismatch" similar to that on my white Genesis on a white AMG Mercedes. The price points were quite wildly dissimilar.

Same thing on my E39 M5, my GT500, and even my wife's Cayenne. GT500 shows up easily as it is white. The M5 and Cayenne are both darker and they don't show nearly as bad. Additionally the pearlescent paint is much more noticeable than a one stage or just gloss white.

I seriously doubt your dealer will do anything to remedy the issue.

Maybe, who knows. There's quite a few threads on the coupe, dealer fixed their issue. If not, I'll probably just get them resprayed at some point.

I was told White is a difficult color to match perfectly...After a deer decided to run in front of my 2012 white Azera, repairs made but front bumper didn't match well. Body shop agreed and sprayed several samples of factory colors...I picked the one I thought matched the original paint. I was told that White color with metal flake was one the most difficult to match for the following reasons.... paint pressure, angle sprayed, and distance from product sprayed ... Moral of the story is--- don't like it get it redone to your satisfaction

Regarding your issues, I have a few comments.

Sunroof rattle - can be fixed. In some cases it requires sunroof assembly replacement. I don't have this issue on the G2, but insist on a proper repair. Sometimes these can be fixed easily with a small felt shim. I did have the issue on my 2013 Azera, and it was easily fixed with the felt shim.

Front Window seal - I had this issue, and the first trip I got "no problem found". Then I took a ride with the tech, and made sure to point out the issue. Got a new door seal kit, and they adjusted the door a bit. All is good now.

Headlight Aim - if your complaint is that they are too low. (they ARE...) most likely the dealer will tell you it's in spec. (it is... the spec is stupid).
My dealer could not adjust them "out of spec". I went to a local shop and got them adjusted for $25. Much better, and no problems with oncoming cars flashing me. If your dealer can actually adjust them to your satisfaction, consider yourself lucky. Bottom line, this is a HMA issue. They are way too conservative on the spec. There was a post to an article from an Insurance Institute that noted that many cars are spec'd too low from the factory.

Paint - You might want to swing by a good local body shop first to see if the car had work done prior to your purchase. If so, you'll have a valid beef. If not, YMMV.

Thanks for the feedback, great to hear the door issue is also correctable. This interior squeaking and groaning is on my nerves, so hopefully they fix it.

Oh wow, hopefully they can adjust, i remember marking my garage wall and adjusting the adaptive headlights on my BMW, it was super easy with a conventional screwdriver. Shame these adjustments aren't within easy reach.

Thanks for the tips!

Had to take mine back to the dealer 3 times to get a paint match
