  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Equus has branding on the gearshift, the Genesis does not. Seems odd to me. That being said, who's making the beautiful branded version of this thing? :) One mans missed opportunity, is another chance at glory for someone else.

first off, I think this is a moot point. The entire "wings" emblem was already tacky, and all the owners changing out the emblem to wings is even more tacky. The underlying message is too obvious.

rolls royce, chrysler? I mean how many other car brands use wings? Marketing has been a series monkey see monkey do type of thing. Mqybe it doesnt matter because u have owners changing out to wings by themselves, so maybe thats all you need.

We (2G) owners are just trying to do all we can to make sure there's even more of a gap between our vehicles and the bland, old, 1G. We don't want to be mistaken.

Oh boy! ;)

Just wear a bag over your head. You won't be recognized.

The story goes like this.

Hyundai produces their first "real" upscale car and separates the brand in Korea by having only wings as it's identity.

Hyundai wanted people to know this was a Hyundai in America because of their past crap reputation so they added the H to the rear. American paying big$ for a car thought otherwise so they added the wings to the trunk which came directly from Hyundai Korea by the way as an original part.

Gen2 rolls around and they add there wings to the front and steering wheel but still opt for the rear H which is normally never seen since these are swapped out as fast as they arrive.

Hyundai realizes their mistake and discloses they will seperate the Genesis brand which obviously will no longer carry the H symbol anywhere on the vehicle no longer.

Bottom line is they listened to the consumer in the end.

In Korea and Japan - luxury models were/are basically their own sub-brand w/ their own distinctive badging.

Reason why the Centennial/Equus is named the EQ900 and not G90 like for other markets (retaining some of the Equus name recognition for the Korean market).

Sometimes you can over-brand. Having a logo all over the place can actually dilute the brand effect and come across as tacky.

Nothing to do with the consumer and all to do with profits. Done correctly a luxury marque can bring major profit to a brand.

With their stock down and growth down, they now have to do something to keep investors pumped up.
