  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

About a month and half ago I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Signature package with 25,000 miles, a day into driving I started noticing when I would break the pedal would almost make what I can describe as a popping noise. You physically felt it in your foot, after about a week of driving the car started to vibrate when braking and the pedal was pulsating so I took it to the dealer. Sure enough the rotors were warped but only the front so they resurfaced them and I got the car back. After that I noticed the car still exhibited the same issue only now the steering wheel would vibrate at any mph over 55 so I took it back and they said that the rear rotors were now starting to show signs of warping and that they would also be replacing all 4 tires for brand new ones, cool. Got the car back and it STILL vibrates at high speeds and the car pulls to the left, at this point I’m super frustrated so instead of taking it to the dealer I took it to fire stone, fire stone inspects the car and claims the front outer tie rod end is messed up and that one of the caliper pins in the rear is seized so I get the findings report and take my car back to the dealer (which is CarMax BTW) they take the car in and can’t find anything and show me pictures to demonstrate it as well but they did find the car was out of alignment and that the two rear tires that were brand new failed a road force balancing test so they warranty out the tires and claim they were able to eliminate the vibration but now the car is still pulling and they are not able to figure it out. So they have sent the car to a Hyundai dealer and are having them run through anything and everything that could possibly cause it and if they cannot find anything I will be in talks with CarMax GM about getting into a different car. Anyone else have horrible issues with vibrations and car pulling?

well they touched on everything I would have thought.

you said the rear tires are new, what about the fronts? uneven wear? worn out? have a patch or plug?

worn or damaged tie rods would give vibration and pulling, sounds like Firestone was right and CarMax is trying to avoid a costly repair payout by lying to you.. JMHO.

road force balance failing is either a bad tire (out of round) or there are patches/plugs in them so they won't balance.

I have seen a few threads about worn tie rods within 30K miles on the 2015/2016 models here on this forum. not sure if it is "common" issue, but sure seems to pop up a bit.

Rotors are hardly ever turned these days. The front can still be crap. Others had rotors turned and then eventually had them replaced. Is the pulling only during braking or do you get it during driving too?

I think you need a really good independent shop that has competent skills to diagnose and fix right. I've never been a fan of the chains like Firestone. Some are good, others not so much.

Yea see that would make sense if they weren't already paying for everything, They are paying for my rental and my gas usage for the car. I actually just got a call stating that is now at the Hyundai dealer and the master tech is looking through everything. As for the tires they are brand new all 4 of them, car max purchased them for me since the car did not have matching tires when I purchased it.

Well car max dropped it off at the Hyundai dealer in town that already previously did warranty work on the car which was replacing the fuel pump control module. Their master tech is over looking the entire car and will be going through everything to see what can be causing the issue, I was just informed of that by phone and will be updated tomorrow.

at least CarMax is trying to fix the issue. hopefully it works out for you...

what brand/model tires did they get. these are heavy vehicles nearly 5,000 lbs. cheap tires will cause a host of issues. hopefully they are quality tires of the proper rating for the vehicle.

OK, that sounds good. Hope it works out for you.
