  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trying to finish up wrapping all the chrome pieces in matte gray vinyl.
Can't figure out how to get that piece out.

I took the inner trunk liner out and removed all the bolts I could see but I can't get it off.
Looks like I have to remove the piece it's attached to first.

Anyone done this before care to share some tips?

Anyone?

Well if it is like most plastichrome trim it's probably a combination of guide pins and adhesive, and given the size probably also some push-locks. Could also be some screw tabs under the tail lights. So try dental floss like you would to remove a wing or "H" badge and you should know for sure in a minute or so. The recess will make it a bit of a challenge.

If you get stuck, bring a case of beer to a local body shop. They know all the tricks.

Good luck.

Thanks Gunkk. Good idea on the dental floss.
I tried a couple times to wrap it in vinyl without taking it off but that was a mess.
