Anyone running higher profile tires on their Equus?

I'm looking at the possibility of going to a 50 profile tire on My '14 Ultimate....

I currently have Pirelli P7's with OEM sizes but wonder if going to 275 all around with higher profile will make a much smoother ride....

Just curious about your opinions if you have any....

I don't see a reason why it would not work. Unless you do a lot of road racing and fast cornering, not any real benefit to low profile other than appearance.

About 8 years ago I put a higher profile tire on my Sonata as the particular size happened to be a good deal. It did ride better but yes, it did not look as good.

My wife's '12 Camry has 225/45/18... She constantly complained about harsh ride... When the time to change out the tires came about I put the same size that, at the time, my '10 Genny had: 235/50/18... Man did it make the wife happy....

I really dislike the harsh ride the 40/45 profiles provide on the Equus (Indianapolis roads can be challenging to say the least) and thought about sizing... There's plenty of room in the wheel wells and I'd really like to rotate and get better tire life if all tires were the same size. I would think 275 in front would be perfectly fine, but that's a layman's opinion indeed and maybe wishful thinking! lol

I agree in principle with EdP, but also suggest you call TireRack and discuss your goal with a sales rep. They are very knowledgeable and can inform you of your options. Also, there are optional tire sizes which will safely fit on your wheels and one of those sizes may be perfect for you.
Keep in mind that tires are the first 'spring' in a system and any change in them changes not just the road feel, but the entire performance profile of the suspension. For good or bad

I should add I looked into this for my wifes car- she has 19" Jaguar rims on XF- talked to tire experts - they all said changing the rim size to say 18 would be better while keeping the tire the same diameter (over all size) they said if I add more rubber to the 19" rim it would mess around with MPH and computers - makes sense since the tire rotates differently when enlarged- may give you better ride but at what expense? On my 2014 Equus I have standard rims with Conti Extreme DWS 106 and ride is fine- dont mess with tire size- step down to a smaller rim size was what they said...hope that helps
