  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

anyone swap suspension from Rspec to nonrspec? trying to see if its worth the cost for better ride...I'm getting old and the Rspec kinda ride harsh.

I've read on this forum that the suspension is the same on the 5.0 and 5.0 R spec. The biggest difference in ride is the wheels and tires. I've got the 5.0 with 18 inch wheels and Michelin 235/50-18 Tires with a pretty nice ride.

It MIGHT be worth sourcing some 17” wheels and tires, if the smaller wheel will still fit over the brake calipers. I have a ‘98 BMW with 16” wheels and tires that have relatively tall sidewalls, and it rides noticeably smoother than my 2010 Genesis 4.6 (not even an R-Spec). Would probably be cheaper, and definitely simpler, than trying to have the entire suspension swapped. Just a suggestion...

Okay. I didn’t do any research on that, so I’ll take your word for it. (I don’t know much about the R-Spec in general, let alone brake rotor/caliper diameter...)

$3k should do it. Parts below are for a 2012 5.0 sedan (non-R-spec).

I like the ride of my '12 4.6 for daily use, which is the same parts if you believe their website. The factory blessed my car with healthy negative front camber and I run PS4S tires for high speed wet grip (highway downpours, etc.). Suspension is stiff enough in the 4.6 and I feel plenty with 235/50-18s.

The ride will be better. Tires do matter a lot on this car. Whether the above will be enough of an improvement for you is another matter. The BH was never a "plush" ride. But the 12 was far better than 09, which could remove teeth. And if you go for a "comfort" tire like a michelin crossclimate, it'll mitigate some of that sidewall. Crossclimates are pretty smooth and quiet despite the snow-tire look.

I have an 09 and it ride better than my rspec.

The stereo is better and seat seems to have more cushion too.

Taller tires will definitely help.
