  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these. The $69 price tag seems like a real steal if indeed it does deliver 60hp.

If they actually have one like they state, it is in all likelihood for the 3.8. However I highly doubt they can squeeze 60hp out of any of them.

I heard from another forum it is just a rip off..

I thought 60hp for $69 was a pretty bold claim. And if others are saying it doesn't deliver, then I think I will stay away. The ad does say it's a money back guaranty.

Part of the main claim to fame for the chips, for higher HP is that they function to change the MAP sensor to shut down it's function to allow more (cool) air into the system. That portion will not effectively make any significant HP gains. The other changes would come with ECU timing, fuel mapping and transmission timing. 60 HP gain from a Genesis chip is not going to happen without some engine modifications.

It does work by making your wallet lighter, thus increasing the power to weight ratio. ;)

At best, a device like this is simply tricking the PCM to believe the IATs are lower than they actually are, which may allow for more commanded timing, but its a bad idea if IATs are actually high :)

ROTFL! But as everyone else has said, it's a rip off, won't work.

In addition, the 306 HP claim by Hyundai for the 3.8 is "at the crank", not at the wheel. I didn't have my car dyno'ed before I got "stuff" done to it, but after adding an Injen CAI, an ARK Performance GRIP V1Catback Burnt Tip Exhaust with Downpipes, and a PowerAxel reflash, and started burning premium, here were the results:
