  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have just placed a deposit on a 2013 sedan which should arrive in a few weeks. Where I live the car comes in three trim levels and the only difference between the top and middle range is factory air suspension. Does anyone have experience of this? I can't see that it has any driver adjustable-controls so what does it respond to in making its adjustments? Vehicle speed? Accelerometers?

Just curious.

I wasn't aware any Genesis models came with air suspension. It is standard on the Equus.

If you're in the US...there is base, Premium & Tech trim levels. But they really only deal with the V6s as all V8s come fully loaded. Also the primary differences are the car entertainment features. Base is old school monochrome LCD stereo with buttons, Premium includes touchscreen navi and upgraded stereo, Tech includes "ultimate" navi with non-touchscreen and driver information system control knob by the gear shifter and further upgraded stereo. There are some other gadgets in each package but those are the "big" differences.

from what i have read, air suspension is not available in north america.
I believe its a Korea only feature.

I wish this wasn't true. If it is available in Korea anyone entertained the idea of ordering the required parts and fitting it to a US model? I know OFG and other like me are going to go the air suspension route.

Like was said it's a Korea only thing. However to answer the question directly. Other cars that have "similar" setups don't have direct driver control over the ride really as far as height etc. go. Sometimes it's automatic and the car adjusts the ride height and cushion of the ride depending on speed and consistent terrain. So a continuous bumpy road would see the far lifted up a bit and then on highway it would lower down for better stability. I think on newer range rovers with this option you can choose from settings based on feel, but not height of the vehicle.

My only direct experience with it was an Audi wagon and it allowed +/- 2" height change depending on terrain.
