  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am considering getting a 2012 6 but adding the premium and tech packages, not for financial reasons, but because I don't need the 8, but want the upgrades.

If I do this, is the appearance of the exterior of the 6 and 8 exactly the same?
Interior?

The only difference I could find on the 2011, was that the 6 did not have the wood finish steering wheel.

Thanks for your help. Retiring a Lexus 2002 LS430.

Lower bodyside chrome molding is not available on the v6. I am not sure about the adaptive headlights and adaptive cruise control for 2012 v6 Genesis.

According to Hyundai website, the Adaptive Front Light System and Smart Cruise Control (the new name) are included in 2012 V6 Tech Package.

Only things I see not included for V6 Tech Package on the website feature page are:

  • Illuminated door sill plates (You can buy these online and install them, as others in this forum have done).
  • Woodgrain-trimmed leather-wrapped steering wheel (which is plastic, not wood)
  • Chrome bodyside moldings
  • Electrochromic auto-dimming side mirrors

My 2012 V6 Tech. has the "Wood"/Leather (heated;)) Steering Wheel and Electrochromic auto-dimming side mirrors, although these may be a Canadian spec oddity.

The wheels are different on the base V6, same wheels as V8 with Premium package. Only obvious difference V6 (Premium and Tech Packages) to V8 from the outside is the chrome strip near bottom of doors and 4.6 logo on the rear.

No heated steering wheel in US. The info about ectrochromic auto-dimming side mirrors only being on US V8 comes from Hyundai US website, although I personally think it is of very limited benefit (I rarely get glare from side-view mirrors due to angle of the side mirrors).
