  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can anyone please share the direct link download for the map updates for 2015 USA Hyundai Genesis, from the website :

Welcome to MyHyundai | MyHyundai

I tried to register my VIN number, say already connected with other owners ( original owner),
All I care about apple carplay
Car Specs: Hyundai Genesis 2015, 3.8L

Thank You all

I'm currently waiting on Hyundai to release the VIN from the previous owner so I can try to do this update. If this is still possible i'll try to post the link.

The free link was taken down when version 12.5 was release last December.

Does that mean I wont be able to update?

for free yes, you can purchase 12.5 (or 13 when it comes out next month) to get the update.

but it is no longer available for free due to licensing issues with Android/Apple and MapNSoft.

was there a source for the "licensing" issue? sounds like bs to me. not you but whoever is claiming this.

there are a few threads here and online in general about it (other Hyundai Forums), I'm just repeating what I have read here and elsewhere.

here is the thread on Reddit where someone is quoting a Hyundai rep that Google pulled the free update:

No dice, that link tells me "This page is currently unavailable. Please try again later." after logging in, incognito mode or not (the car is a 2015 Genesis with Tech, properly registered on MyHyundai).

I actually contacted BlueLink (after being sent there by Hyundai - I don't have a BlueLink subscription), and after some deliberation, their representative told me that the company "Android" - ostensibly the manufacturer of "Android Auto CarPlay" - pulled the update from their website and that is why it's not available on MyHyundai any more. If that word salad had any legitimate origin, it might mean that MnSOFT or whoever produced the original Android Auto/CarPlay update is not making it available for free any more. Might end up having to pony up for that stupid $145 nav update, I guess.

coincidentally it was noticed that the "free" update was pulled within a few days of version 12.5 coming out this past December.

it could very well be that MapNSoft just decided that everyone needs to pay to play, since they own the rights to the firmware and the mapping software technically speaking that is their "right" I guess.

Ran into similar B.S. back in 2008 or so with Chrysler Vehicles, and the updates from NavTeq for the Chrysler REC and RB1 units, firmware updates to add support for ipods was free for those units under warranty and could be had at the dealer for no charge, then all of a sudden Navteq made them only available if you purchased the map DVD with the full map update.

lol what a load... sounds like its all about the money

Just got off the phone with the guys at bluelink. They are saying the same thing Mr. Incredible mentioned earlier... the update was pulled from MyHyundai. They then pointed me to MapNSoft's website where I could pay $145 to update to the newest 12.5 update that would include new map and upgraded Android and Apple apps. I'm going to hold off and wait until Monday to call the local dealership and see if there's a way to update this for free, it's worth a shot. I do wonder if once you do purchase this, will you get all future updates for free then?

No, map updates are ‘free’ for the first 3 years for a new owner or leasee only, and technically they are not free, they are built into the price of the vehicle. Nothing is ever free.

Mapnsoft owns the licensing for the gps units, for the firmware and the map data, it is at their whim what and if they charge. The software/firmware is proprietary and as a coder myself I fully support their right to make a profit from their software.

I do not however agree with their or any other vehicle map companies position of gouging customers, IMO being in the industry there is no way the updates are worth the price they charge, I could see $25-$40 for updates when there are no major firmware changes and only updates to the map and poi data. I can see maybe $75 for the minor firmware changes they make to add features.

overall the updates are to address bugs and issues that they created and charging nearly $200 to purchase an Update to fix their issues is the true meaning of bending over your customers.
