Apple CarPlay turn-by-turn instructions HUD

My wife drives a 2020 BMW 430i. The BMW navigation system is very good. When driving her car, I use Apple Maps, but unfortunately, turn-by-turn instructions do not appear in the HUD. I just purchased a 2022 G80 Sport Prestige. I find the navigation system lacking, when compared to BMW. I use Apple Maps all of the time, but unfortunately, turn-by-turn instructions do not appear in the HUD.

Does anyone know if Apple Maps turn-by-turn instructions appear in any Genesis model's HUD?

No, they do not.

Apple Maps and other smartphone navigation apps will not display turn-by-turn directions in the HUD on any Genesis model. The HUD only works with the car's built-in navigation system.

Thanks for your reply. For what it’s worth, I sent Genesis a message asking if showing Apple Maps turn-by-turn directions in the HUD was going to be released at some future date?

Update the software on your car. The update that released wireless carplay also gave you instructions in the HUD. Go to update.genesis.com to do it.

I have wireless CarPlay. This is the response from Genesis Customer Care:

I used Bluetooth to pair my iPhone to the car. I get to CarPlay with no issue. Are you saying I need to buy one of the Amazon devices found at the link you posted to get Apple Maps turn-by-turn instructions in the HUD?

No, you shouldn't. It's funny - this website is apparently coded where any mention of wireless..... carplay automatically adds a hyperlink to an ad.

I would recommend deleting your phone and redoing the connection through bluetooth. Make sure the last prompt asks if you want to use Carplay and then you tap yes on the car's screen.

This forum adds those ads. They are not all that related to the subject at hand. I have seen several posts on this forum saying that turn-by-turn does now show up in the HUDs of newer models.

I've seen the same thing. That's why I reached out to Genesis about it. Anyway, thanks for your responses. Maybe if enough people ask for it, Genesis might add it to their software pipeline.

I don't doubt Apple Maps turn-by-turn directions are showing in your HUD. But they are not showing in mine. From what I can tell, my software and firmware is up to date. So, what am I missing?
