  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I started my car with my watch this morning!!

response from email I sent to hyundai

Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate your inquirty about Apple applications and services for your 2015 Genesis. We are looking forward to offering the full functionality of the Apple Car Play and the Bluelink for the Apple Watch.

At present time Apple is still working on the Apple Car Play functionality. We do know there is ongoing testing at present time and we may roll that application out to a lower trim line in order to ensure full functionality of the application first. Hyundai wants to be certain that our Premium customers do not needlessly experience a loss of time or needless frustration before offering for the Premium line of Hyundai Genesis and Hyundai Equus. We are hopeful the application is rolled out shortly but we do not have a definite timeline.

When the Apple Car Play does go live expect to find the application available in your 2015 Genesis entertainment center under downloads or applications available for download.

The Bluelink for the Apple Watch is available. You should be able to locate it in the Apple Store. The Apple Watch is a potentially great back up for the Iphone enthusiast.

This sounds promising! Thanks for sharing!

Thank You very much for the update. Greatly appreciated.

i thought the latest Sonata and Tucson models already had Apply play built in, no ? if true - this response doesn't make sense to me. or maybe i have it wrong and he's confirming that they are starting with the lower cost models

I asked Genesis customer support why the Sonata, for one, had apps that were not available on their "premier" models, such as the Genesis. Here's what they said:

"Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate the inquiry in regards to the "in vehicle- car care" application being available for the 2015 Genesis. We can certainly understand the anxiousness and desire to have the application available and we are certainly working towards that end.

Hyundai has a unique approach for their Premium owners. Many manufacturers introduce the latest technology and features on their top of the line vehicles first then allow those technologies and features to be incorporated into the lower trim lines as costs come down.

Hyundai prefers to roll out the basic packages to the lower trim lines first. In this way Hyundai can ensure the programming is solid and then can add the additional features as needed or wanted for the Premium owners. This was performed with the Bluelink for the 2015 Genesis application which has demonstrated a higher reliability than the Bluelink application for other models.

We hope this helps to explain why a mass market segment vehicle may recieve an application before the Premium line. We simply want to be sure the Premium recieve the quality and reliability they expect in the features available in their cars."

While I understand their logic for doing it this way, it still leaves their "premium" car customers wondering when they'll those capabilities.

It isn't out for my Sonata yet. I figure it will be on thaqt platform for 6 months or so before they release it to the Genesis, if they do release it for the 2015.

Look at it from Hyundai's point of view. Genesis owners constitute roughly 3-5% of their customer base. The sonata and elantra are always the number 1 and 2 seller in the lineup and constitute roughly 80% of their base. Hyundai wants as much exposure to their technology as possible. Why would they roll it out in the Genesis first?

I am the proud owner of a 2015 AWD Genesis myself and I cannot wait until AA is rolled out in mine because I've seen firsthand just how much more value it adds. At the same time, I completely understand why the sonata was chosen as the alpha and it isn't the reason they have given us. That being said, please hurry!

See that even Volvo as of December 2015, is now offering Apple Car Play to their existing Volvo vehicles for a $300.00 software upgrade. Any news on where things stand for current 2105 Genesis owners wanted to add apple car play capability?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
How cool is that starting you Genesis from apple iwatch! I have the 2015 Genesis also and will be getting the apple iwatch. How is it working with your car? Is apple car play software upgrade available to current 2015 Genesis owners who want it? I see as of December 2015 Volvo is now offering the apple car play software upgrade for $ 300 to their current Volvo owners; any word from Hyundai on Genesis software upgrade for apply car play?:grouphug:

There is no guarantee CarPlay will even make it to the 2015 Genesis. Even word on the 2016 Genesis is muted. I would not hold your breath and maybe see what is said at the Detroit car show this week, although past announcements have been past by each time.

We do not get Bluelink in Canada so we have to use other options re remote start. I had a drone mobile installed in conjunction with a remote start. Yes I can start my car with my Apple watch or from my phone or computer. http://www.dronemobile.com/?gclid=CNOMj8Hfn8oCFc4YHwodCcENug

The cool thing about this is if you change cars you can take it with you and have it installed on the new one, subscription intact. Both my daughter and wife did this as they changed recently.

I know this is an old post, but still interested in getting Apple Car Play for my 2015 Genesis Ultimate. As far as the quote above I would expect to get most everything on a $55,000.00 Genesis than someone paying $27,000.00 on a Sonata. any updates in 2016?
