  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are 3.8 failures common?

Okay, so title. Saw this: Do you save your oil change receipts? A Hyundai owner didn’t, and now she’s fighting over a warranty.

Have y’all heard of the 3.8s failing before 100k often? Or is this an isolated scenario? Or is this owner just lying that they changed the oil and actually didn’t?
Judging from posts here failure is not very common. Like anything mechanical, there will be eventual failure.

I have every receipt and all but one change was done by the dealer and recorded. One reason I first bought a Hyundai was th warranty. I'm keeping the paperwork. Last dealer also appreciated it when I traded as he could show the next owner it was well maintained.

If they cracked open that engine and the oil was clean, I don't think they would even ask for receipts, It was probably like mud in there. Or maybe I am wrong.
And in this day and age, receipts should not be a problem. Even the garages and oil change places save you info.
I have a file for every car I own and each time I get work done, it goes in there. Lately, some places have been sending me receipts by email.

I was able to go on the Genesis webpage and access all of my service records online, but for most receipts, I take a picture of them, email them to myself on my Yahoo email with the subject being the receipt name and date, and put them in a receipt folder.
