Are there any other Kia/Hyundai SCC sensors compatible with 2012-15 genesis sedan?

Okay as you know I bought a 2012 Genesis 4.6 last November. they drove the car to me from Cary, NC to Wilmington, NC 140miles away and never revealed it to me after knowing damn well they would use cruise control on that distance. the BBB said there was nothing they wanted to do. so I wanted to know is anything compatible to our cars. Also, are there things to try my friends that own a auto shop to try that is a cheaper fix b4 I concede and buy the SCC sensor. please help me. are there other simple issues that may stop the SCC from operating. They cruise doesn't work at all.

Thanks guys for your knowledge I advance. I mean it. I'm on SSDI so my pockets aren't heavy. The hand controls were finally approved from the Republican Health and Human Services. Obama Administration took a month. The GOP doesn't care much to helping disabled people get their care working so I can get to work easier running my flight school and contributing my share of income taxes. but ok yes I'm a Democrat if you couldn't tell. Maybe if I signed a loyalty agreement like all in his administration do, id have my car running fully accessible huh?

Oh it does. They want more info to prove I'm a quad. If you were in my position, you'd understand it's politics. I call a spade a spade, I never saw rules on politics. Half my friends are republicans. And they see how Trump is playing the disabled because we didn't vote for him. But I'm asking what things can make the SCC fail. That's what I asked if you read all of my thread and comment about than my little jab on politics. Free speech. If this thread doesn't allow that, I'm not sorry. So do you know what could cause SCC issues.

Politics aside....

Mine was not working when I bought my car (part of the reason it was a "deal". The Hyundai service writer said the only time they saw these fail was when the car was in a higher impact collision. I bought a used one from a salvage yard, bolted it in, and boom, the SCC worked. It is plug and play, assuming the bracket is aligned correctly.

If you look for the trouble code, it will tell you the sensor is not sending a signal, and it turns off the SCC and VSM. If you do not get that trouble code, it may then be electrical or something blocking the sensor up front (metallic item blocking the "view", aftermarket item or metallic film over the sensor area).

I took the old one apart to see what was inside, thinking it may be a simple connection or something. It is not easy to get open. The unit has a "rolling pin" with what looks a little bit like the kind of motor used on disk drives. I am guessing that gets damaged or knocked out of line and no longer spins, killing the SCC.

Again, just a guess. They do cost a lot and I wish there was a "rebuilt" unit on the market. Since it is a proprietary electronic device built by Continental in Germany, they can charge anything they want as there is no alternative.

Thank you. I heard faulty abs sensors and other things? Your thread was a huge help. I was going to see if the pick and pull lot has a Genesis. Get the sensor off that car and hope I get lucky like you did. Again thanks.

The SSA/SSD has been screwed up for 40+ years, and has nothing to do with Trump, it has more to do with the idiots that run Congress. The President doesn't make law or policy, Congress does, and both parties are to blame for the mess in this country, both parties are equally culpable.

Medicare and SSA/SSD problems existed long before Trump was in office, and will exist long after.


as for your SCC, if you can't post up the codes it is kind of hard to troubleshoot the issue, there could be dozens of reasons, rather than just replace parts hoping it fixes the issue, it's better to have the codes and start troubleshooting the direct causes.


get an ODBII scanner and find out what the codes are, if you can't afford one many auto-parts places will scan the car for free and give you all the error codes.

At tuition of 33k/yr.while I was in college I was a ramper at united airlines. Then went on to fly CRJ-200 at united express. So if I can't use my freedom of speech on a forum that I can do in opt ed pieces in a city news paper, it says a lot about this forum and what can and cannot be typed here but cussing other members out gets a pass right? Again. How dare you try to hush me before even reading where I'm coming from. This is the 1st forum I've ever seen come at me over my political views. you'll be banned because:

1. He is the forum owner and can do what he wants
