  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Folks,

I am looking for opinions on these two brands. Who has the GT-S springs or Storm? How is the ride quality, mileage you've put on them, model of sedan, and are you using stock shocks and struts?

I am on ARK Performance GT-S springs. I was one of their test cars so my springs are prototypes and I'm not sure what changes may have been made for the actual mass production copies.

Ride quality is excellent, not much changed from stock, imo. Slightly stiffer but not the usual stiffness associated with modified suspensions. As a matter of fact, I drove a friend's stock Dodge Challenger the other day and the suspension on that car is unnecessarily super stiff, to the point that it was uncomfortable. The ARK springs are nowhere as stiff.

Mileage wise, I had my springs installed when the car was practically new. I'm estimating I have about 10,000 miles or so on them.

I have a 2G 2015 Hyundai Genesis Signature. I am using stock shocks and struts. Hoping they don't blow so I can use proper Tokicos or Konis if they ever start making some for our cars.

I just realized it looks like you have the 1G R-Spec, so none of this might even matter to you as it is not an apples to apples comparison.

Good luck on your search!

Well any information is better than no information. More than likely I will go with Ark. I was going to get the BC coilovers but, to be honest my experience with coilovers has been awful at best.

Will be interested to hear what you end up going with. I'm also debating between the BC coils, Arks, and Storms. I am only looking for a slight drop, and IIRC the Storms have the least drop out of all 3.

Tampa Gen: I'm resurrecting this thread to see what you ended up going with. Any update/pics?

I recently inquired with BC about coils for the 2nd gen. They said none are available at this time, but it is one of the applications they may pursue in the future.

witch set has the least amount of drop...

Storm is 1/4" less drop than ARK. I have ARKS and I love them , plus I got them during the tax relief sale($237 for the set).

I have a 2G V8 car on 20" wheels and the ARK springs. The car is seriously low especially in the front, the front wheels are tucked slightly under the lip. I was surprised that it came down as much as it did, Specs said it would be about 1.25" drop and it is at least 1.5"....Although it looks absolutely dead sexy its almost to low in the front for me. I drive it weekends only in nice weather and have to be very careful of driveways and filling station lots that have the raised humps where they fill the tanks.

as far as ride quality I am VERY pleased, I feel very little difference from stock. I just finished a 1400 mi road trip with the car loaded with friends and all their crap, everyone was blown away at how the car performs on the highway. Had the cruise set at 90-100mph most of the way....hope this helps anyone that is considering lowering...

PS I think air bags are the way to go....

I have not made any moves yet. I was thinking about BC coilovers but after taking a look at the suspension in the rear I am not sure I want to change the geometry of the car that much.

More or less, I am on hold after buying all of the Ultra Racing suspension components and doing the Brembo swap. Just kind of enjoying the car as is until I make a decision on the suspension.
