  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Some asshat decided to try and break into my car and broke my door handle while I was in to the university playing some rec ball. Didn't get into the car since everything is electronic, but I suspect he/she tried to pop off that piece to pull the door lock and couldn't do it, so left. Car alarm wasn't going off when I came out, not sure if it would for something like this, or if it just turns off on a timer. Handle and lock button still works, so I guess I need a new piece for where they cracked it off. Anyone know if this comes as a full handle assy. or if you can get that little piece seperate? Go duct tape over the hole for now so the elements don't get inside my door. Some people, I just don't know why they're like this. :(

This reminds me to add a Blackvue cam to my Christmas list. With the motion detection, a lot of people caught thieves and vandals thanks to the recorded video.

I had one break on my car. It is a separate detail and can be ordered through your dealer. Mine was under warranty so I can' tell you how much it was. I think it was like $200. It comes in painted the car color so you don't have to go through the body shop at your dealer.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Your insurance will cover this under vandalism. Its usually a small deductible.

Yeah, its covered under comprehensive coverage, but the deductible is $250.00. The repair all total, taxes in is only going to cost $134.81. Pretty basic fix since the handle itself luckily wasn't damaged and the piece comes as a separate part. the piece unpainted is about $24, and the time and paint is around $90. If I could paint it myself I would and call it a $24 repair, but I don't feel like experimenting on this car, hahaha. $135 ain't bad, was figuring on close to $500 for a new handle assy. and the time and cost to tear the door panels off and replace the thing. Lucky.

I had similar issue, but with the back door. I thought that it is a try for a thievery, but after I remember what happened with my KIA Optima ( I had the same issue with the passenger's door), I can tell that this is some weak point on Hyundai/KIA cars.
Both on the KIA and Genesis the issue was covered under the insurance.

Interesting point. But either way it wasn't broke when I went in, and it was when I came out. So somewhere in between someone had their grubby little hands where they didn't belong. ;)
