  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We know this vehicle is rear wheel drive. At 65 mph+ I start to get an "in and out" hum vibration that can be slightly felt in the steering wheel (slight audible as well) coming from the front. It comes and goes at the same one second interval no matter how fast I got above 65 mph. When the steering wheel is slighting turning to the right at highway speeds, the hum vibration is non existent. When going straight or slight left hand turn at highway speeds, the hum vibration is there "in and out" at one second intervals. Again, I can be doing 100 mph and the noise is not any louder or faster...just "in and out" at one second intervals.

Dealer and tire store have checked thoroughly and came up with nothing besides maybe something off in the steering pump/assembly? I would think a wheel bearing would get louder at higher speeds.

Any thoughts appreciated. :). Since it varies on steering load, maybe it is the steering assembly which dealer does not want to tear into.

Not speed dependent = not tire or wheel.

Does not happen while lateral loads are on the front suspension = something is not loose in the front suspension when turning (under lateral and steering loads) that IS loose when NOT turning (no lateral or steering loads).

Varies on steering load = definitely tied to something loading or moving when you turn the wheel.

My first guess: Loose steering tie rod ends or something in the rack.
Second guess: UCA/LCA/Strut/ball joint.

Was any work done recently on the car's front end?

Does it change depending on road surface? Varies on steering load points to pump or bearing IMO. I think the 4.6 for 2012 has an electric power steering pump.
