  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Folks - I've got a 4-month old V8-Tech, and lately I've been experiencing a problem with my doors unlocking. I've got them set up to automatically lock at like 20 km/hr or whatever, and then automatically unlock when I shift into park. However lately they're not unlocking, and I've either got to unlock them manually, or switch back into Drive, and then back to Park... though this morning that didn't even work. Has anyone run into this? Any fixes? Today I'm trying to fix it by turning off the feature, and later I'll turn it back on. Any suggestions/sympathy appreciated.

Thanks!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I can only offer you sympathy, since my Gen has always behaved where the locks are concerned and I have no theories on the cause. Good luck.

Sounds like something requiring dealer attention, as it's not normal if the speed sensitive locks are set and they're not unlocking automatically when you shift into Park (especially intermittently so).

Well im certainly confused here and this may be off topic, but how the heck do you setup speed locking?

On the Tech package, it's Info > Car Settings > Auto Door Lock > Vehicle Speed. By default, I think there is no auto locking/unlocking on the Tech package--you have to set it up. Looking at the owner's manual, I don't think the setting can be changed on vehicles without the DIS (Tech package). If equipped, the speed sensitive locks will automatically lock over 15-20kph and unlock when the engine is shut off.

Mr Mitten, this just occurred to me: Are you sure the "Auto Door Unlock" setting hasn't changed from "Shift Lever"?

Set it to any other option and check if it works.

So, I turned off the feature, drove a day, turned it back on, and noticed today that it didn't work when I dropped my daughter at school. I had to go back to Drive, then back to Park, then it worked. i thought I'd been shifting too quickly, but nope. Shall take it to the dealer and flag everyone on the results.

Here is the issue I am experiencing which may coincide with your complaint.

My 2011 V8 model is set to lock in Drive and unlock when the ignition button is pushed shutting the car off.

However, let's say I stop the car and open a door. I then have to maually lock the doors again before I drive off. When I stop the car and press the ignition button to shut the car off, the doors don't unlock.

Taking the car the dealer anyway on Monday morning for the 2010 map update so I'll find out about this as well.
