  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently bought a used 2012 5.0 R-Spec. I've been through the manual and these forums quite a bit looking for a solution but still can't find an answer.

When I have the mirror switch in the middle position my mirrors auto fold like they should, however when I return to the car, I expected the mirrors to auto unfold when I unlock it, start it, or maybe when I put it in gear, but it seems like they just stay in the folded position unless I press the key fob again or hit the mirror fold button on the door. Are the mirrors suppose to automatically unfold when it's in auto mode? Am I doing something wrong?

I found several post about folding mirrors but nothing about unfolding except:
  1. Press the unlock button a second time after unlocking
  2. Press the door button

yes they automatically fold in when you lock the doors. However mine have stopped doing it, there must be a way to set them back just not sure where it is

Perhaps you hit one of the buttons. Good chance yours are the same as this:
The side view mirror can be folded or
unfolded by pressing the switch
when:
Left (1) : The mirror will unfold.
Right (2) : The mirror will fold.
Center (AUTO) :
The mirror will fold or unfold automatically
as follows:
- The door is locked or unlocked by
the smart key.
- The door is locked or unlocked by the
button on the outside door handle.

Ed that looks like a 2015+ manual page. The 2012 has a different setup. Double press on the keyfob lock will fold them in, and unlock will unfold (not mentioned in the manual page below). Drivers armrest button toggles the mirrors while the ignition is on up until 30 seconds after key-off.

I thought I remembered an undocumented key fob trick where you held the exterior door button while using the fob, and that would enable/disable the abillity to use the fob for the folding mirrors. I'll see if I can find it.

Those are the only ways to unfold the mirrors on your car.

I have a 2012 as well. On your key fob double clicking the unlock button will unfold the mirrors, double clicking the lock will fold them.

My 2017 G90 Driver's side mirror will fold and unfold properly only if actuated within a few seconds of locking it. But if you wait a minute or two, the passenger side only will unfold. Given that it can work properly, it obviously isn't a motor. My theory is that the timer that turns off the headlights after a delay is somehow throwing a false signal to the driver's side mirror. Anyone seen this phenomenon?
