  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a way to extend the timer for the low beams to kick on? Instead of turning on instantly driving under a bridge, can we set it to like 3min?

Not that I know of. I like the fact that they come on fast in many cases, like entering a tunnel. Three minutes? I know a couple of places where that could cause a problem as it gets dark and potentially dangerous in less than a minute. Better too soon than too late.

I like keeping the DRL on but dislike the auto function. Wonder if there's an option to just turn off auto headlights, my previous car is made in Canada where OFF has DRL on.

I hope not. Too many idiots don't know when to turn the lights on, like in rain or the half hour before dusk, after dawn. Unlike you, I can't think of a single reason having them come on automatically is a problem. So what if they come on briefly under a bridge?

Just a pet peeve I have, all the cars I have owned (4 total) have either been too old for auto function, or a Canadian model. I am used to switching the headlights on/off rather than depending on the auto function. Heck, I am still getting used to the back up camera, I have most of the safety features turned off.

I have most of the safety features turned off.

You may regret that one day. A single instance of them activating could save you thousands of dollars or even your life.

I totally agree the response time for the light-dark sensing is too short.
In the morning just leaving my driveway and passing under trees arching over the street, I can get several on-off cycles of the headlights.

**** And: these cycles shorten the life of HID bulbs.
