Auto hold

I have noticed on couple of occasions that when i am stopped at a light with auto hold on, the car makes jerking/vibrating movement for a second or so periodically as if it is trying to hold the car in place. Happens sometimes not always but the I definitely felt it. Anyone else experienced it?

Have never had any "slippage" feel when using autohold. My only gripe with it is sometimes it takes stiffer pressure on go pedal to accelerate out of a hold and I get a surge/lurch when without it I get a more gentler acceleration. But I don't use it all the time so not a big deal.

Mine holds, no movement, not a millimeter. Do you have the ACC feature? That "adjusts" the distance to the car in front sometimes I have noticed, when I break myself (rather than using the ACC to come to a full stop in traffic) it holds steady, no moving/jerking ...

Mine holds steady with no surging or jerking. Releases pretty smoothly when I ease on the throttle too.

Wish this feature was executed as it is on Mercedes. No actuation switch, just a firm depress on the brake pedal. It is still one of my favorite features.

I've definitely felt this happen. While at a complete stop, I can hear and feel the car move less than an inch. I've always assumed that it's adjusting itself.

I use it constantly and it always holds and releases smoothly. I only wish it would stay on permanently once enabled.

I have felt this also, and pretty much concluded it has to do with how hard you are pushing on the brake pedal at the time you stopped and the auto-hold kicks in. Basically, I think it locks the master cylinder pistons in place, and if you were pushing on the brake pedal barely hard enough to stop the car, that's all the force it has to hold the car with. If you had the brake pedal pushed more firmly down, then that is what is locked in place, and the car won't "creep". I've also seen where stopping in a (touch-less) car wash, when the brakes got wet, it would start to creep. Just pressing down a little harder on the brake pedal stops the creep.

Yes! Me too. Mercedes-Benz really has it right with that functionality...

As to the quotes below - I think it would be a good idea to mention this issue to the dealer because you never know and it's best to be safe. I never feel this happen so maybe the system isn't working 100% properly...

I have noticed that I occasionally rest my foot on the gas pedal while stopped at a light....if I give a bit too much pressure, the "on-hold" will slowly disengage or slip..

Why would not put the car in Park when in a car wash? I view the Auto Hold as more for short stops, such as traffic lights, more so than a substitute for Park.

Sometimes I do. But the auto-hold cycle is long enough to hold thru a wash, so 6 of one, half dozen of the other....

I love this feature and use it every day. Never had a problem with it engaging, holding or releasing.

I drove with Auto Hold engaged and then parked (without turning it off). When I returned to the car (after starting the engine with my phone) I had the red brake warning light on the dash and the pedal went to the floor. After putting it in drive everything was normal again.

I don't understand you Mercedes remark. There is a switch to activate the system, but mine comes on with a firm press of the break pedal as you have stated. I don't see the difference.

On MB E350 auto hold is engaged by simply pressing a little firmer on the brake when stopped. There is no switch like we have to keep it engaged, in essence it is always engaged in the MB. I came out of an E350 into the G2. When I first started driving with it, I was so used to the MB method that I almost let the G2 roll into cars ahead of me when I took my foot off the brake without hitting the "autohold" button. No big deal and I quickly got used to the "G2" auto hold function.

My VW CC had AH too but needed to be engaged just like the Genesis thru a button.

Every time I start mine, there's two buttons I push. One, the start button, two, the auto-hold button. It *would* be nice if I didn't have to push the second one!

Love AH, but don't have another car to compare it to. Had no idea this was even a thing. Now, it a necessity.
