  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys, my 2015 V8 Genny truck lid lifted by itself after actuation when the car was new...after several months, about 5 to be more exact, the lid still opens, about 1 inch, but then wont lift automatically. I took a quick look for any adjusts I could make, however, there is not anything I see that is easily accessible. As always, I would rather fix it myself then take it to the dealer. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much, and I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving.

Why not take to your dealer? This should be something covered by the Factory Warranty if it's malfunctioning.
I doubt you'd be charged to have it checked-out.

Well, I dont like letting the dealer mechanics touch the car if I do not need to, even when an item is warranty covered as this one is. Here is an example of why I feel this way. I took the car to the dealer for the 1st oil change. I did the second change myself. Changing the oil requires removing several plastic push pins that hold the undercover(s) in place in order to get to the filter and the oil pan plug. When I did the oil change I found several of the clips missing AND the under cover (front half) had obviously been coated/soaked with motor oil, presumably from the 1st oil change. The oil was full (per the dipstick) prior to the change I did, so this was not a leak problem; no, it was a display of very poor workmanship on the part of the dealer techs that I am not comfortable with.

OIL CHANGE
They are not tech's they are the lowest paid employee making maybe $10 per hour......Do you want to trust some kid messing with a $50k car :=)

Do you think the experienced and skilled technicians are doing oil changes? Usually the oil changer is a new-hire, part-time, etc. Have always done my own.

regards to OP... I've noticed that my trunk opens completely when it wants to to be exact.. I think the car has to be completely locked for the trunk to open all the way.. Try it with the car locked and unlocked.. BUT mine has only opened about 1/2 inch also then i do the rest manually...

Mine opens and closes all the way both locked and unlocked. If the car is running I have to push the button on the dash twice. 2015 Ultimate.

I have the same issue where the trunk won't fully open half the time. I am having to use my hand to lift it open. Did you get this resolved? Thanks,

You don't say what trim level you have to determine if you have the powered open/close feature, or just the proximity unlock that uses the spring assist to open the lid. I am going to assume the latter. I have had the same problem and took it to my (very competent) dealer, as I thought the spring assist needed adjustment. Turns out there is no tension adjustment, but they did lube all the hinge joints and it has worked a lot better since. I would try spraying WD-40 on all the pivot points to see if it helps.

i brought this minor issue up last time i was at the dealer.. He explained to me that depending on the surface of the ground and how the car is sitting will determine if the trunk will opening completely or just a little.. Must be sensitive with weight distribution

Mine is not malfunctioning, but I noticed that it is a bit slower than when new. I could say the same about certain body parts of mine.
