  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I"m looking for a collision repair shop in San Antonio, TX that someone might have experience with. The Genesis had a fender-bender from a teenager. The current repair shop is failing in its quality control in getting it fixed. Might have to take it somewhere else.

Any suggestions???

Thanks,
JT

Don't have any suggestions for you not being from your area. But if you're striking out, I've found that asking a dealer (that you trust, doesn't have to be a Hyundai dealer) can lead to a good recommendation. Most dealers have a working relationship with a decent local body shop so they know they can get a car fixed with minimal hassle and cost effectively.

The other route is to search for a body shop that specializes in luxury cars (ie: German and Italian makes). They likely won't be cheap but will likely do good work.

About 5 years ago (previous car) I had a fender/bumper repair needed that cost about $1500. I filed an insurance claim with State Farm and they gave me a list of 3 independent repair shops in my area that I could take it to. The one I chose did a very good job. So I would ask your insurance company for a recommendation, even if there is no claim involved.

Well, we took the Genesis back for the 5th time again. The problem areas are small paint run on the passenger door. Fender and door alignment is still off and they forgot to paint a spot inside the fender leaving bare metal exposed.

The repair shop is Associated Collision Center. This is supposed to be a preferred shop that is listed from the insurance company. They work on high-end cars, Porsche, Maserati, BMW...etc?????

So far the rating I'm giving them is an "F"

Try looking on YELP.......both Good & Bad..The poor workmanship is on both sides of the Atlantic, my Bro' finally had to sell his 2012 Maserati, under warranty they sprayed it 5 times each panel ended up a different shade..
They just shrugged and said it's a difficult color to work on........OMG

You are WAY past the time to have run, not walked away from these guys.

I live in Boerne, TX which is just northwest of San Antonio. Last year Caliber Collision (IH10 West location) replaced the front bumper of my SLK 55 AMG perfectly. They were recommended by the Mercedes dealer and my experience there was excellent.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the recommendation. I might consider them again. I had two bad experiences with them when they were Slim's and the other name when they switched ownership.
They messed up my BMW M3 last time.

Will be picking the car up today. So hopefully they get it right.
The Porsche dealership recommended them...I'll be contacting them about this.

Well, they wanted us to come by and take a look at the car before they button things up. They almost got the fender and door aligned. They had to take off the fender to paint the inside again. But when they put inner wheel tub the tab was sticking out. The small paint run was still visible to my eye.
7th time they called, it's ready. The door and fender look good. The tab was still sticking out. So they took it back. Look at the other side and get it right.
The service rep brought the car to the front 4 times, found something wrong took it back. It was hilarious... I told them they had to get it looking the same when I brought it in....took them 5 times but it finally is good, not great!
Anyway, thanks for listening we finally have it back and ready to enjoy the ride!!!
