  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Auto Start Stop and Auto Hold

Please stop making up incorrect info.

This has NOTHING to do with engine shutting off at full stop.

This CC with the ability to automatically accelerate and brake.

if you read the press release,

The release indicates that the ISG is included with the base model labeled:

G70 Advanced 2.0T RWD: $34,900

and all the 2.0T models (including Auto Sport, but not 6MT Sport) get all features included in the above PLUS additional features (meaning they get ISG)

The 3.3T Models don't appear to get ISG based on what I can tell. They start with a different set of base features that do not include ISG

Please read and comprehend the pricing listed in the link provided. It clearly states the base model has ISG and builds from there.

EdP you are correct. I apologize. I was wrong. It says it Includes all above-referenced G70 Advanced 2.0T RWD content plus . . . And it says G70 Advanced 2.0T RWD has idle stop & go ISG. I guess I considered that ISG and SCC were mutually exclusive but there is no basis for that.

I find the G70 to be slow off the start. But I don't think it has anything to do with the listed features.

Two of my current cars have auto stop start. They generally operate the same way but have different programming so there are driving nuances. Both can be switched off. Lag is very slight but if that’s a concern, both will restart with a slight movement of the steering wheel or a press of the accelerator so you can easily time the restart prior to really accelerating.

I didn’t like it the first time I felt it in a 3 series but now I like it and the technology will only get better over time. Main impacts are on the battery and starters - both need to be beefed up.

Main benefit for me is the reduction in emissions not fuel efficiency. However for the G70, ISG (is that what HyunGen calls it?) is only on the 2.0 and not on the 3.3. At least that was what I was told on my test drive. Considering the poor fuel efficiency of the 3.3, that’s the engine that needs it!!

But you just said main benefit is emissions not fuel? I have the 3.3T and it's fine on fuel if you drive it conservatively, pretty thirsty if you drive it like you stole it ...

On the Auto-Hold, why would Genesis make you turn it on every time you start the car?

that has been asked but no one here knows. Some of us use it all the time and it would be nice to have it stay on.

What I meant was that, personally, I appreciate that these systems reduce emissions when idling. I don’t do enough to save the world so if cars automatically help, then I’m for it.

Of course, it also helps with fuel efficiency and I support that as well especially for the 3.3 if what people are saying is true (bad to ok mileage, but not great). So too bad it’s not on the 3.3. Genesis missing an opportunity..wait for next cycle, it’ll be there.

I do wonder what the rationale was behind including it in the 2.0 but not the 3.3?

Would be great if it would, or maybe tied to the mode you have the car in? Eco and comfort defaults to on, Sport to off ...

Agree, that’s how the better systems work. Maybe that’s how it is in the 2.0?

For Gene not to put it in the 3.3 (which needs the technology?) must have been due to a real issue (timing for launch, hardware or engineering issues) because all the competitors have it...

Yup, curious. Cost, timing, engineering? My rep could not explain it.

I would think if they wanted to they could change it with software ...

Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. Start stop requires more robust parts and I think that most/all systems have a physical kill switch. So even if the software was updated, there would be no switch (except perhaps a virtual one - not ideal).

Those blank buttons next to the auto hold button need to be used for a start stop switch!

Maybe they figure if you buy a 3.3 you don't care as much about the environment and will never use it as it may compromise performance. Or, it is needed to pass some EPA requirement. You do have to wonder about some decisions auto makers make.

It "feels" a little weird that the 3.3T "lacks" a feature the 2.0T has; plus there may be drivers who want the added benefit of saving a little fuel. However, as far as I know, no cars with auto start-stop gives the driver the option to "permanently" disable the feature; I wouldn't want my car to have this because it on by default every time I start the car.

My 2 cents. because Genesis has no way of knowing if the car will have different drivers and not all drivers may want or use the feature.

What I want is these features tied to the key fob, like my Lexus, and every MBZ, BMW , Audi. Ford, GM, and Chrysler I have owned in the past 20 years that had memory features did.

You program all your customizations including dash readout, memory seat, mirror position, etc. and when you set the memory position you can set you key fob to that position, so when you start the car with fob #1 it matches memory setting #1. And #2 matches the second fob.

I really hate that I have to remember to hit my memory setting after someone else drives my car because they borked all the settings up and the car only returns to the settings of the last driver not the memory.

Yep. All it takes is money. 😇😱
