I drive a G80, but for my recall, they gave me a G70 a few days ago which had "auto stop/start" which I think can be turned off. It seemed to work fine and the slightest release of the brake petal started the engjne quickly. That said, I found it a bit annoying. I suspect, like the Prius we had, the more mileage on the vehicle, the more annoying it will be be. I was curious as to how much fuel it saved so I found the info below. $2000 of gas would save $80 yearly or about $6.50 monthly. I'm closer to $1,000 yearly or about half ($3.25 monthly).
I suspect the big push for it is fleet average MPG.
“Fuel savings will vary depending on the type of start-stop system, driving style and driving cycle,” explained Recke. “The average U.S. driver with a basic system will save around 4 percent.” He also explained that more advanced systems, like those used in mild or full hybrids, can improve savings even more.
