Understood. My 2014 transmission has been great. First transmission drain & service was about 85K+/- miles and am now at 223,400 miles and am ready for the pan filter combo replacement which I already have procured. I have to buy the correct fluid to match what the dealer purchased and have them do it along with the rear diff drain/service. I also procured all of the seals for the plugs. Just have to find a spare day or two because I will also have the corrosion recall addressed.2012 Genesis 3.8 owner and very infrequent poster here. I understand the 8 speed transmission was designed and built by Hyundai first appeared in 2012.
I had to replace two transmissions, thankfully both under an extended warranty (Zurich America).
Bought the car in January, 2017 with 36,000 miles from a suburban Philly Volvo dealer. It was a trade and I figured no one is buying a Korean rear wheel drive car in the winter, so I got a good deal. I read on this forum that the early 2012 models came with a guarantee: that the transmission would fail. I went to a local Hyundai dealer and bought an aftermarket warranty.
