  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Auto Windshield Wipers Fall Short?

My 2009 Cadillac CTS-V would automatically turn on the headlights after about the 3rd or 4th swipe off the wipers when in Rain-Sense mode. When the wipers turned off - the lights turned off.

So, on a drive with intermittent showers your lights kept turning on and off? Thanks, anyway, I'd prefer to control that myself.

I owned a Chevy Volt and if the wipers remained on for more than a quick pass or two the headlights automatically turned on until the wipers were turned off. A great feature. I've also seen wipers park in the down position when the car turned off regardless of position which was a cool feature as well.

I agree that turning headlights on from off is a good idea if the wipers are on and no lights are on. Both should be on at the same time - if it's raining, there's reduced visibility and helping people see you increases safety.

However most modern cars have DRL, which afaik are essentially the high beams on a super low intensity. In even a slightly hilly area DRL are going to be more visible to others than low beams on full intensity because low beams are cut off by the projectors so they don't blind oncoming drivers. If you're above the cutoff someone with DRL is going to be slightly more visible than someone with low beams.

I like the way the Genesis doesn't link in with the low beams. I do wish I could adjust it to be a little less sensitive to light in general - even going under an overpass slowly (due to traffic) will cause them to turn on.
