  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I keep mine up but when I go into reverse it retracts - I understand this is for safety reasons but is there a way to keep it from retracting every time I go into reverse?

I don't think there is any over ride for this.

Shade should go back up automatically upon going into drive.

Yes, just keep the shade down. Then it won't retract. You said you understood that the shade detracts for SAFETY reasons when it's up and reverse is selected. You were correct.

Is it just me or is there a slight gap at the top when fully raised? I don't see anything obviously wrong but just seems odd.

I took this to the dealer and evidently that is something we will have to live with. There is a visible gap although it is not a safety issue. I think Genesis ought to address this however with a redesigned shade.

So why is this a problem? Cosmetic?

If it makes you happy, it's flush with the rear window ledge when it's down.

I just had the shade motor replaced under my extended warranty. My '12 will turn 6 years old in one month.
