If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Did I read on this board comments about driver seats automatically moving back to allow easy exit and returning to memory position upon ignition? Much like the steering column. The comments, as I remember them, indicated the Genisis having this capability but requiring some adjustment by a service tech .

Thanks.

Ed

My car came with this as the default setting upon delivery. From whatever seat & steering wheel position you set, upon turning the engine off the seat will move backwards and the steering wheel will rise to its uppermost position to allow easier exit from the car.

I defeated this feature since I often have passengers behind or a bulky computer bag behind the drivers seat. I think you access it from the "Info" button on the console and the "settings" selection in the menu. I'm not sure if this is only applicable to those cars with the Tech Package or not.

Easy exit (automatic movement of driver's seat) is only available with the Tech package

I know the Tech Pkg comes with this. Not sure about the Premium Pkg.

With the Tech Pkg, you can turn it off and on from one of the screens.

It works with the Premium Package as well. The '09 I just picked up does it. From what the dealer says, they have to hook the car up to a computer to disable it.

Nope - read owners manual - can disable either or via DIS

I have a 2010 3.8 with premium and nav. It does not have the easy exit seat feature

DIS is only available with Tech Package not Premium or base models.

Premium packages can provide this feature via software hookup by the technician, but there is no way to activate/deactivate otherwise. ;)

With my DIS I have the easy access set to "on", both with the seat and the steering column. My settings are in memory #2 and my wife's are set in memory #1. When I drive and shut the car off the steering column goes up and away and the seat moves completely to the rear. Very nice. But when she drives and shuts the car off, the seat only moves back about half way, not the full distance. Anyone know the problem?

Interesting post. My wife and I are also on memory #1 and #2, respectively. She often complains that her settings are not always remembered.

I think there could be a problem between the two memory settings.

At least for the 2011 (likely all others) the manual says...

Tech Pkg cars have access to these settings (Easy Access, Auto Door Lock behavior, etc...) from the DIS.

Premium Pkg card need to have the dealers diagnostic tool connected to program these settings.

I have searched for a list of all available settings for my Premium Pkg car so that I can get the dealer to program it to my satisfaction when I take it in for it's first service...anyone found a complete listing...I've searched the manuals at the HMA service web site, but have found no listing of available programming options...Off the lot, mine has the steering wheel easy access ON, but the seat easy access OFF...

Sorry to revive an old post. Mine also does this.. It is quite strange.

Has anyone figured this out? It almost makes the function useless as my seat position is further back then where it moves to when my wife turns the car off.

You know that you can push the seat memory button to your position before you sit in the car, right?

Per the manual it says that the seat moves back a little. The seat moves back about 2 inches from where the seat was last set at. Works the same as my Mercedes.

Yes I know this, but this should not be necessary.

If my wife uses my car and I forget, I go to get in the car (like I normally do) without pushing the button. I realize as I am sitting down that I am getting squished and by then it is too late. Also if I remember and push my setting, the seat is in the driving position, not the easy access position.

Basically what it means is that the easy access only applies if the person who used the car last is equal or shorter then the person who is about to use it.

Why not just make the seat go all the way back and the steering all the way up every time the car gets shut off. Then there is no problem.

This is the case, but it is a silly design.

My 2009 3.8 Premium never moved the seat back to ease exit. I recall asking the salesperson about that capability back when I purchased the car.

The only thing to ease exit is my steering wheel goes to uppermost position when I turn off the ingnition and then returns to my preset when the car is started again.

Maybe your wife would think it was a silly design if her seat drove away back beyond your driving position before she was allowed to exit the car. Did you ever think that that might be uncomfortable for her?

By the way, the premium package contains the auto seats, at least in my 2012.

EXACTLY!

My Wife is 5' even. I'm 5'10. I like the seat all the way down and back some. She likes it all the way up and forward so she can reach the pedals. She hates it when she drives after me because she can't reach the pedals to start the car, so she has to push her setting to get the seat forward enough for her.

On the flip side, I can't get in the car after she's driven it because it dosen't go down or back far enough. So I've learned to press 1 before I attempt to get in the car after she has driven it. And if I know she will be driving the car next, say in the morning when I pull it out of the garage, I just get out, press 2, then turn the car off. She too will try and remember to press 1 before she turns the car off if she thinks I'll be driving it next. It's not THAT big of a deal. Just adjust to the situation.

Does the seat always get placed in the correct position? No, because we have 4 vechcles to choose from to drive and we don't always know who may take which vechicle when.

I go the extra mile with my wife. I gave her the number one button and I am "number two." Got my drift?
