  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A couple of month ago I got my steering wheel fixed, as its range of motion had been slowly diminishing (as described in many posts) but since it has been fixed the memory does not remember the steering wheel placement correctly.

It is strange. The wheel would come out but not down.
The dealer cannot figure it out.
Then I noticed that each morning when I start the car the wheel seems to position itself closer to what I actually try to set in memory.
After 4-5 weeks it seem to be in place, but then instead of staying there, now it goes to low and lower everyday!!!
Finally I decided to use position 2, once I set Position 2, it was like starting from scratch again for position 1 and 2!!!

Has anybody encountered the same type of problem?

There are several threads on this subject. It is a very common problem that is quite annoying. Hyundai has yet to come up with a fix despite change steering columns, switches and modules.

It is also a saftey issue as the dash dials get blocked and exit from the car is restricted by the low position of the steering wheel.

A simple search using "steering wheel" will show you the numerous threads. Here is one: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5826&highlight=steering+wheel

This one also has a work around by mike c.

Would be nice to keep info on the existing thread(s) instead of starting a new thread.

ther is a new TSB that was issued in January 2011. It is regarding a module replacement and then a setup proceedure. It seems this is a "real" fix from what I have read in this forum.

From actual experience it is non-effective. The January 21, 2011 TSB is not a solution. My dealer and zone have seen that it did not do anything in regard to my car. Don't get your hopes up yet.

Totally unacceptable.....................

We bought a 2011 4.6 about 3 weeks ago. It was built 12/11/10. My wife called me this afternoon to tell me that when she turned off the car, the seat moved back, BUT the steering wheel didn't move at all. I'm really not looking forward to visiting the service center this soon!!

There are plenty of threads about the steering wheel loosing movement range (I know that and it is mentioned in my comment), but none about having a different problem once it has been fixed.
Read the entire comment before to make some quick and ... comments.
