  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just purchased a used 2018 G80 Sport which has the automatic trunk lid feature. Every couple weeks I need to transport a little giant type ladder that will stick out of the trunk by a couple feet. Is there anyway to manually close the trunk lid part way and bungee it? I did this all the time on my 2010 4.6 Sedan that i just traded in. Looks like I can buy a roof rack, but that would be my last resort.

Sounds like a pick up truck ,is what you need.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Someone must have accidentally closed their trunk on something. Hopefully they will let us know what happened, i.e. any permanent damage. I would hope Genesis took into account this could happen.

You can carefully manually close the trunk. This is actually the procedure to re-calibrate the trunk if its open and your battery dies.

Thank you all. Why drive a pickup when you can drive a Genesis! I will need to look into those options - I definitely don't want to break anything - I would feel better if I heard from someone who has done this.

You should be able to close it manually slowly and secure it snug to the load. Just like any other trunk

I just did it on mine the other day. I was messing around with adding an amp in the trunk and disconnected the battery. Trunk close button didn't work until you manually close the trunk.

Try this one out hawkeyedad. I have a 15 Ultimate so not sure if it will work the same. The trunk switch inside the car, with the trunk open push switch and hold. Once trunk gets to the desired height let go of switch. On my 15 the trunk will stop moving wherever it is, unless it touches the latch . In that case it will close all the way. Hope it works for you.👍

You have to be quick but you can hit the trunk button again while it's closing to stop it.
