  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hadn't much need of them in town where running them manual was sufficient and the only feature I used was for very light rain or mist.

But a couple of weekends ago on a drive back from Louisiana I encountered severe intermittent thunderstorms at night and I just set them on auto. Amazing, they went from lo to hi to intermittent, and i forgot about them.

There has been a lot of complaining about these but I really like them. Personally I cannot see why the complaints.

My problem is the auto setting never seems to really get to "off". When the rain stopped they would still keep going, albeit at a much slower rate.

Never had that happen however a couple of times in the last 2 years of ownership they went off for one stroke on a sunny day.

For me...one of the best options ever! My first experience was on my 2007 Veracruz. My complaint was that they would cycle 1 time, every time the vehicle was started if left in the Auto position...even on the dryest days. Made a real mess if there were bugs, etc. on the glass. My new Genesis (second one) has eliminated that quirk and I now leave them on Auto all the time.

In my '12 R Spec, I always left them on Auto and forgot about it. I too would get the occasional 1 swipe on a sunny day. But they worked great.
on my '15, they are in auto as well. No rain yet.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
This is one of those options that, in the past, I felt that I wouldn't really need. want or desire. Now that I've had them on the G2 for a while, I've come to appreciate the convenience of them.

I like this "future" as well, had this on my Rspec, now in 2G but......I never leave it ON AUTO, same goes for the headlights.

btw. think about it when you go to the car wash! I've heard too many heartbreaking stories already

I rainex my windshield once every couple of weeks. If I hit 25mph - rain just rolls right off. I have used the intermittent and found them to be a bit too aggressive in medium rain - but they do work good in heavy or light rain and mist.

Mine only do that when the car is started via the app. It swipes once when I enter the car...

because the window is covered with drops of water and it doesn't come on. i would revert to manual, but there is no manual intermittent. my 2008 lexus (2 cars ago) had automatic wipers and was so responsive. not sure why they didn't include a manual intermittent setting or make the automatic more responsive. the adjustment toggle is worthless. it's like a close door button on an elevator, just a placebo.

My car wash does an "auto wiper" check (and doses the windshield with extra detergent) before they start. They also pointed out the rear suspension knuckle dragging on their guide rail.

I set the wipers to "OFF" unless it's raining and the headlights to parking LED dim DRL. With auto DRL I watched the HID lamps get power cycled way too much on underpasses, tunnels, etc.

Same here, same problem. Plus the one swipe on dry glass after getting in the car after starting it remotely.

My little Sonata is ever so better & simpler with it's manual delay wiper control. The wipers do have an "auto" feature that when you go faster, the wipers go faster - that works great.

On my 2G, it's totally spastic. I want more manual control - each to his own, I guess.

Mine won't respond in light mist that builds up slowly. The sensitivity knob also seems to adjust from too slow to too fast with no just right in-between. It's almost like there's no faster-intermittent setting; just very slow intermittent (or off) and crazy fast. This is about the same as every other car I've had with auto-wipers.

There's no substitute for manually controlled delay wipers - the genny wipers are for the diehard gadget lovers.

There are some odd comments here. I think they are just brilliant. They work so well. The screen gets cleaned just at the right time. I would like to have a better understanding about the control switch which seems to make them wipe more often. Does this change the density of droplets sensitivity or introduce a time control element?
However, they are just right for me. Like the other auto stuff, it all works really well. I'd forgotten, for example, that the windscreen can fog up because the auto system keeps it clear. :)

Just make SURE you turn that auto mode OFF before you go thru automatic car wash. My local auto car wash guy told me to make sure my auto wipers were off.

I am very happy with the auto wiper function. I use rainx so that may effect performance to some degree, but before I applied it, it worked just as well, so dunno what to tell you. It works very well for me. Though very rare, I may occasionally trigger a quick wipe manually.

NEVER go to automatic car washes, unless you like scratched up paint.
